The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional regulation is looking for student law clerks who will have completed their first, second, or third years of law school by summer 2026. Preferences will be given to students who have completed their second year of law school and are eligible for their Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 licenses during the summer of 2026. </b></p><p>Perform job duties and responsibilities and provide legal analysis and support to the judge or commissioner to ensure the efficient operation of the division. Complete legal research and work required in managing the division&rsquo;s pending motions list and resolving issues that arise during conferences, hearings, and trials. Monitor and manage the division&rsquo;s open case inventory as directed and provide whatever administrative support is necessary to meet court time standards for judicial rulings and case dispositions. Prepare courtroom for use and provide courtroom surveillance during proceedings, manage jury during jury trials and serve in the courtroom as otherwise needed. <br>Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking four (4) full-time Law Clerks for the Animal Protection Law department. As a Law Clerk Intern, you will be provided with a superior education for 2L and 3L law students in the field of Animal Law.
<br>This is a spring clerkship for approximately 12 weeks beginning between January – June and working between 10 - 35 hours per week. If selected, you must commit to 10 weeks.
<br><br>
<b>You will be responsible for:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Working closely with the attorneys in the Animal Protection Law section;</li>
<li>Being integrally involved in the process of researching, preparing, and prosecuting animal protection lawsuits in state and federal court and rulemaking petitions and comments before administrative agencies, as well as preparing and reviewing federal, state and local legislation;</li>
<li>Providing research and drafting support for one or more of our four core legal groups: Farm Animals, Companion Animals, Wildlife & Animal Research, and Legislative Drafting & Review;</li>
<li>Attending weekly departmental reporting and planning meetings and other meetings as relevant.</li>
