BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES</b>:</div>

Incumbent of position is a member of DFS&rsquo; Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.</i></b></p><br>

<p>
The duties of this position require a constituted law enforcement officer subject to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The incumbent is required to bear firearms. The incumbent is required to maintain certification as a law enforcement officer pursuant to Chapter 943, Florida Statutes.</p>
<p>
Investigative Activities</p>
<ul>
<li>Conduct extensive investigations. Responsibilities to include following up on leads, conducting interviews, executing search warrants, making arrests.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Conduct follow-up latent investigations, interviewing witnesses and interrogation of suspects as appropriate in order to secure background information on suspect(s).</li>
<li>Identify and arrest criminal suspects. Prepare and present information and evidence to the prosecuting attorney.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Provide expert testimony at legal proceedings and assists in preparation of witnesses, victim, and evidence for use by the prosecution.</li>
<li>Identifies, recruits, documents and supervises confidential sources as per Division Policies and Procedures.</li>
<li>Collects, seizes, protects, maintains, transports and documents evidence consistent with statutes, current case law, and Division Policies and Procedures.</li>
<li>Displays sound surveillance techniques and undercover capabilities as needed.</li>
<li>Provides investigative support to Division personnel and to other public safety entities.</li>
<li>Applies diverse knowledge and research methods.</li>
<li>Development of strategic and tactical intelligence.</li>
<li>Monitors arrests, prosecutions and forfeitures. Maintains liaison with Prosecutor.</li>

</div><div>The Department of Insurance, Division of Insurance Fraud Investigation&rsquo;s mission is to protect the Commonwealth through conducting fair and impartial criminal investigations, and other related activities for the purpose of deterring insurance fraud. Insurance fraud harms the public through the increase of premiums paid for insurance coverage. By statute, it is a criminal act to engage in insurance fraud and criminal penalties are an important element in the prevention and/or deterrence of such crimes.<br>
<br>
We are looking for an Insurance Fraud Investigator II to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Insurance Fraud Investigator II, you will perform professional level work in conducting the more complex and sensitive investigations and other related activities for the purpose of determining whether violations of criminal laws relating to insurance fraud have occurred.<br>
<br>
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
<ul><li>Plans and conducts sensitive, complex investigations of persons and entities suspected of violating insurance fraud laws. Coordinates case files and investigative reports with other investigators and management. Compiles detailed investigative reports.
</li><li>Works closely with administrative staff to compile comprehensive case files and prosecutor notebooks. Communicates with insurance companies. Consults with staff attorneys and the Office of Legal Services on case preparation and litigation. Drafts, present and discuss with prosecuting attorneys info for the preparation and prosecution of criminal practices.
</li><li>Assists Investigator I's with conducting investigations, interviewing witnesses and preparing detailed case reports. Assists in training new investigators. Catalogues, marks and secures evidence. Interprets and enforces departmental rules, regulations and policies in performing investigative work.
</li><li>Works with other law enforcement agencies (local, state and federal) and insurance company special investigative units to develop insurance fraud and other related criminal cases. Conducts presentations in reference to insurance fraud as needed.
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
