Job Description 
Successful law firm seeks a full time Law Clerk for our downtown Milwaukee, WI office. This position requires a motivated, detailed, organized professional capable of functioning in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, either 8:00am to 4:00pm or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Position Summary:
As a Law Clerk, you will be primarily tasked with assisting attorneys in all attributes of a case investigation process. Our clerk is responsible for following a filing system and organizing records, such as letters, legal documents, case files, correspondence, invoices, and memoranda according to that system. They locate and retrieve requested files and prepare legal document indices, file folders, and labels. They may be responsible for keeping files up to date. In addition to filing, the law clerk may perform other clerical duties, such as handling mail, faxing, using a copy machine, maintaining a calendar, and managing office equipment. In addition to clerical duties, the law clerk may also act as a courier to make deliveries and pickups within the downtown Milwaukee area. This is primarily a sedentary role, but a potential candidate should be able to lift 50 pounds for duties assigned occasionally.
Essential Job Functions:<ul><li>
Oversee medical and factual investigation with oversight of attorney team, including preparing medical and other authorizations; communicating with opposing law firms and pro se claimants; communicating with medical providers, State and federal agencies, employers, and other parties to secure requested evidence; issuing payments and documenting the costs; updating internal records retrieval system.</li><li>
Open case files.</li><li>
Review and docket mail and other related documents pertaining to the worker&rsquo;s compensation and GL cases.</li><li>
Maintain daily calendar and computer files. Ensure tasks are completed timely and properly documented.</li><li>
Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software.</li><li>
Ensure filing is up to date.</li><li>

Qualifications

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY: 
This position performs clerical and support functions related to the court system. A Domestic Civil Support Deputy Court Clerk will be trained in File and Serve, Odyssey (web-based computer system that manages court cases), and Customer Service Phone Support. Domestic Civil Support Clerks are responsible for monitoring databases, processing confidential documents including new and consecutive filings, scheduling hearings, preparing and distributing official documents and communications, implementing court policies and procedures, and providing phone support to assist parties and the legal community with questions and concerns. 
 
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: 
Work is performed under well established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code and requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. A Domestic Civil Support Deputy Court Clerk performs varied, moderately complex work over a comprehensive realm of legal actions that require the clerk to have a broad knowledge of the court system in order to perform the more complex functions of this job.

T his position can reside in any of the following offices: New York, Philadelphia, Boston, or Washington D.C. with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility to work overtime required.
Key responsibilities include:
<ul><li>Maintains the firm&rsquo;s docket system for litigation lawyers practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions
</li><li>Identifies pertinent deadlines and prepares master calendar of due dates for distribution to lawyers and staff
</li><li>Obtains filing information from court clerks and online dockets
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.
</li></ul>Experience and qualifications:
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred.
</li><li>At least one year of relevant litigation calendaring/docketing experience desired, preferably in a large law firm.
</li><li>An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings at the federal, state, and county level strongly preferred.
</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.
</li><li>Strong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail.
</li><li>Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs. ProLaw or comparable docketing software a plus.

For positions in Boston, MA the salary range for this job posting is: $53,200.00 - $85,150.00.
For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this job posting is: $57,900.00- $92,550.00.
For positions in Washington, DC, the salary range for this job posting is: $55,500.00 - $88,800.00
The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
