As we scale to meet increasing demand, we are seeking a strategic, data-driven, and people-focused Director of Litigation Operations to lead and evolve our high-performing Legal Operations.</h1><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
The Director of Litigation Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the daily processes of BLP&rsquo;s high-volume Litigation department. This department supports the full lifecycle of legal cases from filing and drafting through resolution. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the litigation department runs efficiently, delivers exceptional service, and continuously improves processes.</h1><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
This role requires strong operational and analytical skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to communicate across all levels, from front-line team members to the executive leadership team. Responsibilities</h1><ul><li> 
 Lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Litigation Team of attorneys</li><li> Act as the primary liaison between the Litigation Team, the Operations Departments, and Legal Support Teams.</li><li> Assist with designing and implementing operational improvements throughout the Litigation process, including KPIs, training, and quality measures</li><li> Monitor all production and quality-related performance for the litigation team, including, but not limited to, operational adherence, call volumes, and service standards</li><li> Oversee the maintenance of the records and databases for all legal services, including financial, legal templates, and websites</li><li> Manage the operation of onboarding and exiting of all attorney staff</li><li> Lead the Legal Administrative Team</li><li> Identify operational pain points and implement scalable, data-driven solutions to improve workflow and performance</li><li> Establish, track, and report on departmental KPIs; leverage data to inform decisions and advocate for improvements</li><li> Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and litigation leadership to ensure alignment and satisfaction</li><li> Collaborate cross-functionally with peers, executives, and other departments to achieve company goals</li><li> Drive department-specific initiatives that align with quarterly and annual business objectives</li><li> Actively contribute to company-wide strategic initiatives and serve as a thought partner to executive leadership</li><li> Develop strategic vision into actionable department-level initiatives and follow through to execution</li><li> Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and driving operational enhancements</li><li> Analyze KPIs to guide business decisions and support recommendations with evidence</li><li> Facilitate clear and consistent communication across teams and levels, adapting messaging to various audiences</li></ul> 
Qualifications
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Required</h2><ul><li> Bachelor&rsquo;s degree</li><li> 7+ years of experience in operations, business management, or a related environment</li><li> 5+ years in a leadership position</li><li> 5+ years in a legal environment</li><li> Strong operational background with experience developing and implementing workflows and process improvements</li><li> Above average skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint</li><li> Proactive in finding solutions while also using discernment when escalating issues</li><li> Demonstrates ownership of work and maintains excellent quality standards</li><li> Ability to communicate both verbally and in written format at a high level</li><li> Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.</li><li> Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with team members, internal partners, and clients.</li><li> Effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
PREFERRED</h2><ul><li> Juris Doctorate or Master's Degree in Business, Communication, or other similar field</li><li> Experience with EOS and its management philosophy</li><li> 5+ years in Civil Litigation</li><li> Familiar with FDCPA guidelines.</li></ul>

Mission:
The Director of Operations, Legal Projects serves as the operational lead for the Legal Department, driving data-informed processes, analysis, and feedback systems. This role translates legal strategy into actionable systems, ensures disciplined execution of legal work, and strengthens organizational capacity to manage legal risk at both campus and regional levels. The Director oversees legal operations, supervises legal staff, manages engagement with external counsel, and develops clear, scalable processes that empower school leaders to operate confidently within legal requirements. Additionally, the Director ensures IDEA&rsquo;s compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Public Information Act.

This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

What You&rsquo;ll Do &ndash; Accountabilities
Essential Duties:<ul><li>
Serve as primary architect of legal department workflows, SOPs, and field facing guidance: create, manage, and cascade standard operating procedures for legal department to build efficiency and clarity for operational execution
</li><li>Serve as Data-Guru and Analyst: Influence, design, and analyze data related to legal operations to inform processes, trainings, and recommendations for management</li><li>
Transform Technical to Practical: translate complex matters, processes, and guidance into manageable tasks and projects for end-users through stakeholder engagement, cross-functional meetings, and careful design</li><li>
Ensure IDEA meets all requirements for public information/freedom of information act, subpoena, discovery, and other related matters through direct management of paralegals</li></ul> 
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Design and enforce standard operating procedures for engaging outside counsel, including intake, approval, scope definition, and billing review.</li><li>
Oversee legal billing and invoice review to ensure fiscal discipline and alignment with approved scopes of work.</li><li>
Monitor trends in legal and settlement spend and recommend strategies to improve cost efficiency.</li><li>
Serve as the operational counterpart to the General Counsel, managing execution so legal leadership can focus on strategy and high-risk matters</li><li>
Manage team to create systems to receive, respond, and archive information requests, subpoenas, custody order reviews, no trespass orders, and other routine school support requests</li><li>
Set clear performance expectations, manage workload distribution, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.</li><li>
Build internal capacity to reduce dependency on outside counsel for routine matters.</li><li>
Create system for legal intake and triage, ensuring legal is spending time on most critical matters and meeting all internal and external deadlines</li><li>
Identify systemic risk patterns through data analysis of legal requests, public information matters, subpoenas, and campus inquiries</li><li>
Design legal trainings and corresponding documents and partner with IDEA&rsquo;s training team on design and review of trainings on behalf of legal team, as necessary</li><li>
Prepare concise updates and recommendations for the General Counsel and senior leadership.</li></ul>

6&ndash;10+ years of progressively responsible experience in legal operations, compliance, project management, or a similarly complex operational environment.

Proven ability to design systems, manage risk, and drive execution across multiple stakeholders.</li><li>
Strong written language skills, including the ability to edit drafts for clarity, grammar, and conciseness.</li></ul>
Preferred Education and Experience:
<ul><li>Strong understanding of public information requests, subpoenas, records management, and education or public-sector legal frameworks.</li><li>
Experience in K-12 school district strongly preferred.</li></ul>

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $98,200 and $115,900, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
