Management Test Battery (MTB) - Weight:</b> <b>40% &ndash;</b> Qualifying candidates will be invited to participate in an in-person computer-based examination designed to measure competencies in job-related areas which may include but not be limited to: Problem Solving; Leadership; Decision Making; Interpersonal skill; Human Resources Management; Team Building; Communication; Conflict Management and Process Improvement. A passing score must be achieved on the MTB to continue to the next step in the selection process.</p><p>

Behavioral Consistency Questionnaire (BCQ) &ndash; Weight: 60%</b> Candidates that pass the MTB exam will be required to complete a BCQ which will be sent by email. The BCQ is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in job-related areas. Knowledge of: Modern library methods, procedures and techniques; library materials; knowledge of the role of the public library in the community.</p><p>
Ability and Skill to: Work courteously and effectively with library patrons and outside organizations; evaluate a wide variety of library materials; educate, advise, and instruct others in the use of library materials and facilities; plan library programs and book selection to meet the needs of the community; speak and write effectively; prepare reports; and the ability to organize, supervise, coordinate and delegate.</p><p><b>
BANKED SCORES:</b> Scores attained on the MTB exam will be valid and 'banked' for three years, starting from the date of the examination. This means that, during this three-year time period, you will not be required to take the MTB. The MTB may be used for many other classes; therefore, your test score may be applied to one or more of these classes if you choose to apply to future recruitments. If the selection process for the future announcement is held within one year of the date of this examination and it includes the MTB, your score will be automatically applied to that announcement. However, after one year, you have the option to either (a) apply your test score to the other announcement or (b) re-take the MTB. Re-testing is permitted no sooner than one year from the date of the examination and only in association with your eligibility for another announcement for which the MTB is used. Working as part of the Access Services team and reporting to the Access Services Manager, this position serves as the library&rsquo;s primary professional reference lead, providing advanced research assistance using NSLAPR collections, including government documents, archival materials, digital resources, maps, and other specialized materials. Responsibilities include service desk coverage, assisting patrons with complex inquiries, and guiding users in effective search strategies, resource evaluation, and discovery tools. Beyond reference work, the librarian coordinates the library&rsquo;s public-facing web presence related to library collections and services. Responsibilities include maintaining Access Services webpages, guides, and finding aids; serving as the point of contact for staff website onboarding, accounts, and permissions; and supporting the usability, consistency, and accessibility of public-facing library content in alignment with institutional standards. Position Summary</b></p><p>
Under the general supervision of the Adult Services Librarian or the Area Manager, the Librarian performs professional-level library services and works both independently and with other staff to execute small to large-scale initiatives. This position works on a team of librarians directed by the Adult Services Librarian and/or Outreach Coordinator to develop innovative approaches for a variety of library programs and services. Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Provides reference and reader&rsquo;s advisory assistance in person and via the organization&rsquo;s adopted book lists format.</li><li>
Provides technology and computer help to patrons, including expert-level assistance with the library&rsquo;s digital collection platforms.</li><li>
Continually researches the various needs of the adult community served and evaluates data to design relevant, easily accessible resources and programs for the service population, in collaboration with the Adult Services team.</li><li>
Provides customer service and information services in alignment with the organization&rsquo;s standard of excellence.</li><li>
Supports systemwide goals and initiatives.</li><li>
Understands current library trends and best practices and appropriately integrates these ideas into the daily work in the Adult Services Department.</li><li>

JCLS has a 16-step salary schedule with each step at 1.5%. The starting salary will be based on steps 1-5 on Grade N of the schedule. New hires are placed based on applicable education and experience to the job, as well as keeping within Oregon state pay equity laws. The starting range for this position is $28.31 to $30.08 per hour or $29,442 to $31,283 per year. Staff members who pass a Spanish language or American Sign Language competency test are eligible for a Bilingual Stipend per JCLS policy.</p><p><b>
