What You Will Do: 
<ul><li>
Receives and catalogs incoming items (print books, DVD's, CD's, Gov. Docs and other types of materials) to be added to the library's collection. Ensures requested incoming items are promptly cataloged, processed and placed on hold to ensure quick delivery of the items to the requestor. 
</li><li>
Assists with collections lifecycle, fixes catalog records and contains errors, and conducts physical processing improvements such as new barcodes, spine labels, and repairs to damaged books. 
</li><li>
Provides exhibition assistance for events, including adding local bibliographic. Bucknell University notes relevant catalog records, creating cover copies for use at events, assisting with event set up and curating exhibits.

Participates in interlibrary loan, acquisitions, and public services work.

The Access Services team at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Libraries connects patrons to the Libraries&rsquo; world-class collections, services, and spaces. Access Services manages circulation and service desks at College, Memorial, Steenbock, and Kohler Art Libraries. As the first point of contact for students, staff, researchers, faculty, and community members, Access Services staff have a dual mission of creating welcoming spaces and moving library materials efficiently.

</div><div>Reporting to the Access Services Neighborhood Coordinator, the Library Access Services Specialist will regularly work as the library&rsquo;s Manager on Duty. Managers on Duty oversee the general functioning of library services, coordinate circulation, supervise student staff, and exercise judgement in the application of policies and procedures. When not acting as Manager on Duty, the Specialist will contribute to departmental projects and initiatives and participate in student supervision.

</div><div>As an evening and weekend Manager on Duty, the Library Access Services Specialist will contribute to a safe and secure environment for the library's patrons, staff, collections, and contents by responding to security and emergency situations, handling facilities issues, and managing closing duties.

</div><div>Access Services staff work across campus libraries. Individuals in this unit are assigned to a home library where they have a dedicated workspace but regularly work in at least one other location. The home libraries currently being hired for are College Library (1 position) and Steenbock Library (1 position).

</div><div>The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:</div><div><ul><li>
Facilitating and strengthening Access Services student staff members' relationship with the Libraries through management, hiring, training, and mentorship.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Contributing to continuous improvement within the Access Services department including through policy development, aligning departmental strategy with library strategic directions, service assessment, and community building.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>

The purpose of this classification is to provide library services involving development and maintenance of library programs, curricula, collections, as well as advanced library services.
Essential Functions:

Position Summary</h2>
The Reference Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library of a Community College providing library services to students, faculty, staff and citizens of the communities served by the College. The Reference Librarian&rsquo;s main function encompasses a broad spectrum including: reference services via in-person, phone, and online chat; collection development; assisting in interlibrary loan; circulation management; troubleshooting basic IT questions; and individualized instruction with library resources.<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>
Under the direction of the Director of Library Services or other administrator the Reference Librarian is responsible for effective performance in these essential duties: 
 
Key responsibilities include:<ul><li>
Public and Reference Services: Answer reference inquiries in a variety of formats, including in-person, email, phone, and on-line chat.</li><li>
Technical Services: Perform basic ILS circulation functions, contribute to collection development activities, and assist in the administration of interlibrary loan.</li><li>
Information Technology: Respond to basic requests for assistance with printing, scanning, copying, and word processing programs. Help with Blackboard or other online learning platforms.</li><li>
Information Literacy: Instruct students on the use of library resources, including how to locate and evaluate sources.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned: Participates in special projects and contributes to the overall efficient functioning of the library.</li></ul>

Minimum Qualifications</h2>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library Science with one (1) or more years of relevant experience working in a Library.

<div>Academic reference librarian. This part time professional role provides and promotes effective delivery of virtual reference services that facilitate student development and achievement of learning outcomes. This position is highly customer focused and is often the first point of contact with the library staff. This position reports to the Supervisor &ndash; Reference Services and works cooperatively with other library staff to support library services.
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
Provide reference and research services for learners, faculty and staff, and assist users in developing effective skills, competencies, and strategies using library databases and other online resources.
 
 
Reference:
<ul><li>Assess the nature of reference queries to determine desired information need.
