Other duties as assigned</b></p><p>Full supervision of Communications Supervisor, Maintenance Technicians, Executive Assistant, and Collection Development Librarian II.</p><p><b>Education and Experience Required</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree and three (3) years of experience in essential duties, with heavy emphasis on project management and process development.</li><li>Requires five (5) years experience working for a library district, preferably a public library.</li><li>Two years (2) of supervisory experience, preferred.</li></ul><p><b>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</b></p><ul><li>Maintains current knowledge of office practices and technology; exhibits a willingness to learn other applications as needed.</li><li>Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Strong knowledge of Technical Services in a public library setting.</li><li>Maintains flexibility in managing tasks, schedules, and responsibilities to effectively support evolving team and organizational needs.</li><li>Strong knowledge of facility needs and operations.</li><li>Strong knowledge of communications and marketing in a library setting.</li><li>Knowledge of basic accounting including budgeting and purchasing.</li><li>Well versed in software products to compile data, write reports, and correspond with others.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.</li></ul><p><b>Work Environment</b></p><p>Position may require being up and moving around the Library and at times stationary at work station. The job requires stooping, bending, squatting, stretching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (with keyboard, shelving), eye-hand coordination, data entry, and computer use for accessing information. Job Description</div><div>
The Macdonald-Kelce Library at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Part-Time Library Technical Assistant. This front-line position assists patrons in the use of the library and its resources during weekend hours. Primary responsibilities include the check-out and check-in of circulating items, supervision of student assistants, the answering of phones and greeting visitors, performing inventory, and carrying out opening and closing duties.</div><div></div><div>
The library technical assistant also assumes responsibility of the building when a supervisor is not on duty. This position reports to the Circulation Manager.</div><div></div><div>
Essential Functions<br>
1. Provide outstanding customer service with all library patrons.</div><div>
2. Communicate effectively with students, staff and the public.</div><div>
3. Supervise and train student assistants.<br>
4. Perform library functions such as charging/discharging library items, resolving patron matters, conduct stack maintenance, participate in inventory.</div><div>
5. Instruct and assist patrons with library equipment (e.g. scanners, computers, printers, microfilm readers, etc.).<br>
6. Assist in the sorting and shelving of returned materials.<br>
7. Monitor library entrance and public areas to ensure that patrons follow library policies.<br>
8. Perform opening and closing duties.<br>
9. Participate in inventory projects and shelf maintenance to enhance the quality of service for all library users.<br>
10. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.</div><div></div><div>
Qualifications<br>
1. A high school diploma.<br>
2. Ability to work evenings and weekends as designated by the department.<br>
3. One (1) year experience in a library setting preferred.<br>
4. Familiarity with basic computer operations.<br>
5. Previous supervisory experience a plus.<br>
6. Good communication and organizational skills.<br>
7. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.</div><div>
8. Other library clerical and operational support duties as needed.</div><div></div><div>
