THE OPPORTUNITY
Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant&rsquo;s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling.
SIJC is seeking a Clinician, Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinician, SRP will be licensed a social worker and mental health practitioner responsible for providing therapeutically-informed support to participants. This position will leverage exemplary clinical and interpersonal skills to provide clinical support to participants enrolled in the program. Specifically, the Clinician, SRP will facilitate CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants, provide short-term counseling for any participant identified as a strong candidate for mental health support, and external referrals to therapy, as appropriate. This position provides hours towards LCSW accreditation.
The Clinician, SRP will not carry a standard SRP caseload. Rather, they will work closely with the case management and specialty in-house referral teams to case conference about participants' strengths and needs and coordinate tailored support as appropriate. The Clinician, SRP will work with other SRP teams to ensure access to, completion of, and accurate data entry for CBT and other therapeutically-informed sessions to ensure these sessions count toward participants&rsquo; compliance status.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Responsible for facilitating CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants;</li><li>
Provide &ldquo;counseling lite,&rdquo; a limited counseling structure of 5-10 sessions and subsequent referrals to external therapy providers, as appropriate;</li><li>
Maintain accurate and timely data entry and case documentation aligned with the program model, court reporting obligations, and best practices;</li><li>
Responsible for consistent and effective cross-team communication and collaboration to proactively identify successes, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen programming, create opportunities for meaningful collaboration, and maximize internal and external resources and expertise;</li><li>
Responsible for ensuring participant access to, completion of, and accurate data entry for CBT and other therapeutically-informed sessions to ensure participants&rsquo; completion of these sessions counts toward their compliance status;</li><li>
Responsible for working effectively with the case management and compliance teams to ensure accurate and timely court reporting;</li><li>
Co-facilitate pro-social and psycho-educational groups for participants in collaboration with SRP Clinicians;</li><li>
Maintain professional and positive relationships with court staff, judges, and attorneys;</li><li>
Participate in individual, group supervision, and regular staff trainings to develop program expertise and related skill sets;</li><li>
Attend project events, community events, and meetings after house, as needed;</li><li>
This is a non-caseload carrying position;</li><li>
Additional relevant tasks, as necessary.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
A Master's degree in a mental health field and 2 years direct practice (e.g. therapeutic or case management) experience required; license is strongly preferred;</li><li>
Experience in pretrial, court-based, or criminal legal system strongly preferred;</li><li>
Experience in SRP preferred but not required;</li><li>
Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills;</li><li>
Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a highly interdependent, multi-disciplinary team within a fast-paced and dynamic work environment;</li><li>
Professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of program stakeholders, including judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, court staff, and site partner agencies;</li><li>
Bilingual (English-Spanish) strongly preferred.</li></ul>
Position Type: Full-time in-person work required; weekend and evening hours required, as needed.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $58,500 - $73,500 and is commensurate with experience.

Summary: Clinical Social Workers within the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) are vital members of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The behavioral health clinician works closely with nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in a fast-paced, high stress environment, and is under the clinical supervision of the psychiatrist. The behavioral health clinician completes psychiatric assessments, provides crisis counseling, and implements treatment planning for patients in the PES. The behavioral health clinician identifies appropriate resources and obtains collateral information, as needed, from patients' supports including family members, friends and outpatient providers. The diversity of the client population served, in addition to the treatment modalities utilized, requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration. The training responsibilities are assigned by the PES Program Leader in accordance with the training needs of the department. <div><div><div>Description of Duties: The individual in this role will act as a liaison for Accountability Court services for Houston County and Southwestern Judicial Circuits. The Coordinator for Court Services performs a key role in assessment, coordination of legal matters, and specialized conditional release planning for individuals who are found by the courts to suffer from a Mental Health and/or Addictive Disease. Participants served may also include those who have been found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, incompetent to stand trial and/or under pre-trial diversion. This individual will be required to travel 50% of time and will serve as POC for court participants, working directly with Accountability Court Teams. They will be responsible for providing clinical updates and progression as well as clinical recommendations to the Accountability Court Team weekly. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that minimum treatment court requirements are obtained with each individual served through the courts. In addition, will collaborate with interagency clinical staff to ensure clinical treatment recommendations are addressed in treatment and will provide ongoing supervision and monitoring of all treatment plan needs of court participants. This individual will be responsible for ongoing communication with external Accountability Court Team members to ensure multiple systems are being addressed around participant&rsquo;s treatment (i.e. legal, home, work, community, etc). This individual will conduct individual, group, and family therapy when indicated to meet minimum standards set by Council of Accountability Court Judges (CACJ). This individual will obtain certification required/requested by CACJ or Accountability Court programs to ensure evidence based treatments are being used with participants. This individual will be required to document services in both agency software as well as court. This individual will be required to conduct assessments on site at jail, in homes, and other areas when indicated. The Coordinator will be required to attend treatment meetings and court as well as balance their roles and responsibilities within the agency. They will be responsible for completing monthly reports to ensure program fidelity both clinically and financially. This individual will also be responsible for a minimum of 55% billable productivity time (96 hours per month). Transporting individuals served is a requirement.

Minimum Qualifications: Licensed by Georgia State Composite Board to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LAPC, LMSW, LAMFT). Must have at least one year experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating co-occurring disorders. Must be keyboard proficient and have the ability to organize daily duties with minimal oversight. Working Knowledge of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Provider Manual. Must have a valid, unrestricted GA Driver&rsquo;s License.
Preferred Qualifications: Licensed by Georgia State Composite Board to practice independently as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and/or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a minimum of 2 years of generalist practice experience, post full licensure and in good standing without restriction.<div>
