RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p>

All VFES firefighters must complete the Work Capacity Test (Pack Test &ndash; Arduous Level) during their introductory period and annually thereafter.</div>

This position operates on a <b>48/96 shift schedule</b> (approximately 2,920 hours annually). Overtime is earned for hours worked beyond 106 in a pay period.</div>

<li><div>Responding to emergency calls for fire suppression, EMS, rescue, and hazardous materials mitigation</div></li>
<li><div>Providing emergency medical care to the sick and injured</div></li>
<li><div>Participating in daily drills, physical fitness training, and required certifications</div></li>
<li><div>Driving and operating fire apparatus as needed</div></li>
<li><div>Maintaining fire equipment, vehicles, and facilities</div></li>
<li><div>Engaging in public education and community risk reduction programs</div></li>
<li><div>Contributing to fire inspections and pre-incident planning</div></li>
<li><div>Preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and records</div></li>
<li><div>Participating in ongoing technical rescue training (rope, confined space, ice, water, etc.)</div></li>
</ul>
<div>Starting pay is <b>$27.81/hour</b>, with advancement opportunities based on training and certification per the VFES Pay Progression Plan. Pay increases are dependent upon completion of additional training and certification in accordance with the VFES Pay Progression, which includes but is not limited to: Firefighter II, I-100/200, NIMS 700/800, CEVO, S-212, and completion of the VFES Engineer training program and Engineer task book.</div><br>

Employees of VFES are required to maintain a primary residence that provides for a response back to the closest Vail Fire Station within 2.5 hours. Response time to a Vail Fire Station is based upon travelling at posted speed limits and roads that are open year-round.
