The General Liability Litigation Senior Claim Representative or Consultant is accountable for delivering superior customer service and successfully investigating, reserving, recommending and implementing strategies to resolve claims consistent with corporate claim standards, policies and procedures and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. The selected candidate will partner with Staff Legal and outside counsel to resolve General Liability cases including: Premise Liability, Operations Claims, Product Liability, Professional Claims, Advertising Injury claims, Homeowner Liability, Employment Liability exposures and others. Additional key responsibilities are as follows:
Claim File Management<ul><li>
Plan, recommend, reserve and execute file strategies including investigation, valuation, disposition and settlement of assigned claims, in a manner consistent with corporate claim settlement policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements</li><li>
Properly assess the exposure of assigned claims. Plan and organize, establish priorities, anticipate issues, determine realistic completion dates, know and communicate the status of assignments, appropriately manage vendors</li><li>
Develop advanced functional knowledge to appropriately interpret and apply insurance coverage. Develop technical and jurisdictional expertise</li><li>
Maintain current knowledge of claim loss cost management initiatives, and utilize them appropriately and in a manner consistent with company practices and procedures</li><li>
Identify and properly mitigation, subrogation, and other recovery opportunities</li></ul>

Consultant ($84,800 - $127,200) 
<ul><li>Higher complexity and case values up to $1m+</li><li>Complex litigation with multiple co-defendants, multiple plaintiffs, and complex coverage and risk transfer issues</li><li>Able to handle a wide variety of litigation and/or loss types</li></ul></div>
Additional Information<ul><li>
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, Lake Mary, FL, Naperville, IL and Alpharetta, GA) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.</li><li>

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford&rsquo;s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

Overview:

This position is responsible for the investigation and resolution of subrogation claims primarily for our Property, Homeowner, Workers Compensation, and General Liability lines of business. This individual reviews and concludes by settlement or closure assigned claims through commonly accepted subrogation practices. They are skilled in analyzing liability and investigative data and to make prompt and sound decisions. They possess strong resolution skills through the use of negotiation, arbitration, mediation and litigation. The individual in this position will ensure claims are processed within company policies, procedures, and individual prescribed authority with exceptional standards of performance. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Review assigned claims (which can be complex or high exposure) and determine appropriate course of action to identify and pursue recovery.</li><li>
Analyze loss details, explore subrogation potential, identify additional investigation which may be necessary in support of subrogation, settle claims through appropriate resolution methods, secure appropriate releases, process recovery checks, and return insured deductible when applicable.</li><li>
Document claim file timely and accurately. Ensure proper follow-up through diary system. Proactively commuicate with key stakeholders in an appropriate and timely manner.</li><li>
Engage staff or panel counsel as needed to assist with subrogation and litigation efforts. Collaborate with LOB adjusters and attorneys in determining the need for experts to investigate subrogation potential and preserve evidence.</li><li>
Process incoming calls and correspondence from insureds, claimants, agents, underwriters, attorneys, and other key stakeholders regarding questions or problems associated with subrogation efforts.</li><li>
Utilize Intercompay Arbitration effectively to assist with timely recoveries on disputed or denied subrogation claims.</li><li>
Seek management approval for settlement values outside established authority levels. Participate in claims reviews and settlement conferences based on complexity and loss exposure.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with company, state and federal regulations. Remain current on industry trends and laws related to subrogation procedures within our footprint.</li><li>
Effectively manage the litigation process and work collaboratively with counsel to reach optimal recovery outcomes for Selective.</li></ul>

Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country.
