Job Summary
Local P&amp;D or City Drivers operate various tractor-trailer combinations between company service centers and customer facilities or work sites within the service center's geographic area. They sort, handle, load, and/or unload freight at company and customer locations.
Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>
Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.</li><li>
Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test.</li><li>
Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with state and federal DOT guidelines. Use various loading techniques, such as loading tight or cross loading.</li><li>
Transport self and/or freight continuously throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.</li><li>
Utilize Dock Yard Management System to consistently monitor freight shipment locations throughout the service center.</li><li>
Read and interpret shipping labels. Familiarity with, and in some cases ability to complete the various forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, overage/damage movement reports and exception forms.</li><li>
Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as necessary.</li><li>
Insure the quality loading of all trailers.</li><li>
Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope).</li><li>
Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-pace and deadline oriented.</li><li>

I. Job Summary 
 
Driver safely operates a heavy-duty truck and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large intermodal containers from the intermodal rail facility to landfill working face. Rail Truck Drivers will operate in off road conditions and may operate in tight overhead environments. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential, to successfully perform this job. Coordinates movement of materials with rail foreman and Landfill Operations. 
 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
<ul><li>Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules. OSHA. (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.</li><li>
Positions and / or returns intermodal containers on the rail/truck in a manner that ensures container is safe and secure.</li><li>
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.).</li><li>
Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service related issues to Manager or Supervisor.</li><li>
Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by WM or Facility Manager.</li><li>
Works closely with Facility Managers to improve efficiencies and identify best practices.</li><li>
Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.</li><li>
Notifies Manager of operational issues or potential safety hazards.</li><li>
Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement</li><li>
Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.</li><li>

III. Qualifications
 
 
A. Required Qualifications 
 
<ul><li>1 year of experience operating a truck or military driving within the last 7 years and</li><li>
Must be at least 18 years of age and</li><li>
Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located and</li><li>
Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports</li></ul> 
B. Preferred Qualifications 
 
<ul><li>Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A</li></ul>
