The Loss Prevention Specialist plays a key role in protecting the assets of the Distribution Center, with focus in the following areas: operational shrink control, internal investigations, and shortage root cause analysis. Works closely with the Lead Specialist, and reports to the Loss Prevention Supervisor.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Provide protection of all company assets, including people, property and information</li><li>
Monitor Shipping/Receiving docks, trailer yard activities, alarm systems and access controls, parking lots and all other key areas in the Distribution Center</li><li>
Monitor the movement of trailers/vehicle traffic entering or leaving the yard area</li><li>
Monitor merchandise entering or leaving the facility</li><li>
Maintenance of established fire and safety regulations within the Distribution Center</li><li>
Ensures incoming and outgoing trailers are processed</li><li>
Maintains a professional manner and can effectively handle all situations</li><li>
Conduct CCTV surveillance and investigate potential dishonest activity</li><li>
Display integrity and maintain confidentiality</li></ul>

NFM is looking for a Loss Prevention Specialist to monitor a closed-circuit TV security system for signs of illegal activities, in order to protect company assets and identify customers and/or staff who need assistance. This person will be responsible for apprehending and detaining individuals involved in illegal activities.
 
Job Duties: A Day in the Life
 
<ul>
<li>Assist: Help investigators in making stops, detentions and apprehensions. Call 911 when needed and record/recover any evidence seized during an apprehension</li>
<li>Support: Stop, apprehend and detain shoplifters and write incident reports for criminal activity</li>
<li>Monitor: Track retail, warehouse and parking areas via closed circuit TV system and report information to the appropriate staff</li>
<li>Assess: Surveil staff for internal theft and policy violations, which are to be reported to Human Resources</li>
<li>Collaborate: Work with the display team to secure vulnerable merchandise</li>
<li>Report: Keep a computerized journal of daily activities and conduct safety checks to audit compliance with security policies.</li>

<li>Conduct surveillance using CCTV systems, alarm monitoring equipment, and visual observation to identify suspicious behavior and potential security threats
</li>
<li>Respond to security incidents, alarms, and emergency situations including theft, disturbances, medical emergencies, and safety hazards in accordance with company protocols

<li>Perform checks, receipt verifications, and exit inspections to prevent merchandise theft and ensure compliance with loss prevention policies

<li>Document all incidents, observations, and security activities through detailed written reports, logs, and incident documentation systems

<li>Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, and management when incidents require external intervention or escalation

Position Summary

The Loss Prevention &amp; Safety Specialist is responsible for protecting company assets, reducing risk, and supporting safe, compliant store operations across all AQL locations.

This role partners closely with Regional Managers, store leadership, HR, and Operations to identify issues, conduct investigations, and implement practical solutions related to cash handling, safety, and policy compliance. Experience with California workplace and compliance practices is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
