Primary Purpose 
 
The Software Engineer II (Marketing Technology) contributes to the creation of high-quality, innovative, and fully functional software solutions that adhere to coding standards and technical design. This role will contribute to the research, design, development and implementation of new software solutions in addition to enhancing existing software capabilities. This role will also collaborate with other Squad members, stakeholders and the Product team to ensure that products meet business, functional, and technical requirements and are scalable in nature. This will include translating business and technical requirements into well engineered, tested, and deployed technology solutions by gathering user requirements, defining system functionality, and writing code in various languages. The Software Engineer II has the ability to take on smaller projects from start to finish, work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors and trace issues to their source. The Software Engineer II develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. 
 
This role drives digital marketing innovation by designing, developing, and implementing advanced solutions within our Marketing and Ad Technology ecosystem, focusing on our data warehouse, data syncing pipelines to marketing and advertising platforms, and our customer data platform (CDP). This role exists to bridge the gap between marketing data strategy and technical capabilities, ensuring our grocery retail operations have robust, scalable data infrastructure that powers customer engagement and drives business growth. The person will design and maintain reliable data pipelines, manage integrations between our data warehouse and marketing/ad platforms, enhance and evolve our CDP, reduce technical debt across data systems, and maintain operational excellence in our mission-critical marketing data infrastructure. 
 
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
 
<ul><li>Develop the technical design for solutions based on the defined scope, requirements, and functional design provided by the Product team and other stakeholders.</li><li>Build and configure technical components (interfaces, conversions, reports, workflows) so that solution design meets business needs and solution architecture standards.</li><li>Write and document programming code to meet the gathered requirements.</li><li>Deliver solutions through SaaS solutions (e.g. Hightouch, Segment, Data Bricks, Snowflake, etc)</li><li>Perform code reviews and quality assurance to ensure compliance to technical standards and business requirements.</li><li>Collaborate with Squad to support the Product team to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria.</li><li>Prepare development and test environments, conduct test readiness to proceed with testing, and collaborate with to execute testing.</li><li>Fix bugs identified during quality assurance and testing.</li><li>Continuously reduce technical debt (e.g., create technical debt stories, remove bugs) and decommission legacy applications and solutions.</li><li>Perform updates and enhancements to the solution, as needed.</li><li>Release software into production and perform release testing (system integration, mock conversion, parallel, regression, performance and stress, infrastructure).</li><li>Participates in initiatives for improving way of working in teams and in eliminating technical debt</li><li>Develops solutions to moderately complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple areas or disciplines.</li><li>Communicates with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.</li><li>Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.</li><li>Delivers high quality work in cross-functional team environments - at times taking on additional technical assessments and responsibilities</li><li>Contributes and at times leads positive and collaborative solution brainstorming and delivery</li><li>Has strong self-led work drive and accountability as well as a growing ability to lead team assessments and discussions to achieve assignments (agile, or bimodal).

The impact you&rsquo;ll have
1. Tracking Infrastructure<ul><li>
Own Tag Implementation &mdash; client-side and server-side &mdash; and keep event tracking clean and consistent across web and product</li><li>
Build and maintain server-to-server conversion integrations for Meta, Google Ads, and other paid platforms</li><li>
Own tracking hygiene end-to-end: UTM standards, pixel coverage, event schemas, and identity resolution</li></ul>
2. CDP &amp; Customer Profile Architecture<ul><li>
Own the Hightouch data model &mdash; define the canonical customer/lead object, key events, and the attributes that power segmentation and personalization</li><li>

3. Marketing Data Pipelines &amp; Integrations<ul><li>
Own integrations between our martech stack and various core systems</li><li>

Define data contracts and schemas; catch and fix data quality issues before they hit campaigns</li></ul>

Must-Have Experience<ul><li>
5&ndash;10 years in marketing technology, marketing operations, or a closely related technical role</li><li>
Hands-on expertise with Tag Management&mdash; particularly client side pixel including custom JS.</li><li>
Experience building server-to-server (API/CAPI) conversion integrations with major paid platforms (Meta Conversions API, Google Enhanced Conversions, or similar)</li><li>
Working knowledge of CDP architecture and data modeling &mdash; hands-on experience with any CDP platform (Hightouch, Segment, RudderStack, mParticle, Tealium, or similar)</li><li>
