This position supports student success in math through in class and out of class support of MDE (Mathematics Direct Enrollment) courses; facilitation of workshops supporting success in MDE (Mathematics Direct Enrollment) and paired MTH (Mathematics) courses. This position will be responsible for the facilitation of preparatory workshops for math success and participates as a member of the math success team.<br>

The Math and Reading Specialist will launch and integrate a structured support program for students in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students and Foundation English faculty.</p><br>

This position will implement the Math and Writing Support Program for first year and foundational students, develop and deliver pre-college outreach, summer camp and bridge programming, and provide targeted, structured and holistic support for cohorts of students testing into foundational courses.</p><br>

Support will include small group sessions with the goal of accelerating student progress into college level Math and English. The Specialist will also collaborate with faculty and staff to address student needs and strengthen retention, support village-based students through outreach, and develop and distribute culturally relevant materials while contributing to the cultural competency program.</p><br>

This position will facilitate educational workshops, skill-building sessions and build partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations. The Math and Writing Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining the Math and Writing Lab, which provides academic support to students, working with individuals and groups to strengthen writing and math skills, training new tutors, conducting workshops and maintaining records.</p><br>

On average most projects may involve at least 10 hours per week to achieve deliverables effectively though this is not a fixed commitment and depends on the scope of work. Contractors have full flexibility to set their own hours and determine the exact amount of time needed to complete deliverables.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS</b></p><p>
Bachelor's degree or in the process of completing a degree (High School Math Education preferred); If degree obtained or expected is not specifically in Secondary Math Education, and the applicant is interested in working with students in Pre-Algebra or above, the applicant will have to complete a math competency exam.</p><p>
Available to tutor weeknights and/or Saturdays.</p><p>
If interested in tutoring elementary math, the applicant must attend a three-hour Brainspring workshop.</p><p><b>
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME</b></p><p>
Independent Contractor</p><p>
This is an in-person/on-site position (no remote math tutoring positions available)</p><p>
