As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB&rsquo;s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Mebane, NC.
You will be mainly accountable for:<ul><li>
Collaborating with various teams to support ABB&rsquo;s operations, ensuring effective coordination and timely project completion within the defined timelines.</li><li>
Leveraging insights about customer needs and ABB&rsquo;s offerings to identify suitable solutions for clients, leading to project results that meet customer expectations.</li><li>
Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts.</li><li>
Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.</li><li>
Support the mechanical engineering team in developing new product offerings and assisting with day‑to‑day design activities</li><li>
Work with low‑voltage, medium‑voltage, and load‑interrupting switchgear using 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks and Creo, along with a PLM system for file management</li><li>
Collaborate with the production floor to gather feedback and implement engineering improvements based on real‑world manufacturing insights</li></ul>
Qualifications for the role:<ul><li>
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master&rsquo;s degree program in Mechanical Engineering in the United States.
</li><li>Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.

What you will do
As a member of the Johnson Controls Mechanical Engineering Co-Op/Intern will be responsible for various engineering activities within the compressor engineering department. Reporting to the engineering manager, interfaces directly with compressor engineers, aero engineers, technicians, test lab, and other departments within the company as needed. Role will primarily be focused on large centrifugal compressors for York brand water cooled chillers. 
How you will do it:<ul><li>
The intern will follow compressor testing, organize and analyze test data, and create reports</li><li>
Take direction from manager and engineers, provide guidance to test operators and interface with compressor technicians. Understand and follow all relative safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment</li><li>
Create and execute test plans</li><li>
Edit and maintain work guidelines and instructions for future interns to follow</li><li>
Assist in various assigned projects within the compressor engineering function as necessary</li><li>
At the conclusion of the internship, a brief presentation to the compressor engineering department summarizing your activities and key learnings will be required</li><li>
Must be able to work 40 hours a week at our JADEC office in New Freedom, PA</li></ul>
