 <div>Typical responsibilities
<div><ul><li>Develop mechanical design packages with complete sets of mechanical drawings involving modified or original designs. Perform assignments requiring considerable field design/drafting experience and the use of mathematical skills to compute weights, dimensions, quantities of materials. Ability to obtain data from field observations.
</li></ul><ul><li>Work from sketches and verbal information supplied by Project Managers/Area representatives to develop sketches or drawings with appropriate views, details, and supplementary information to complete assignments.
</li></ul><ul><li>Prepare mechanical designs that comply with applicable design codes, standard engineering practices (SEPs), RAGAGEPs, engineering design sketches, fabrication and constructability requirements, and clearness/completeness of drafting presentation.
</li></ul><ul><li>Exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent and required information from existing drawings, manufacturer&rsquo;s catalogues, technical guides, codes, standards, SEPs, RAGAGEPs, field survey notes.
</li></ul><ul><li>Keep the Project Manager/Area representative informed of progress, design issues, and/or changes that might impact schedule or man-hour budgets.
</li></ul><ul><li>Interface with other disciplines as required to effectively and efficiently develop mechanical design deliverables.
</li></ul><ul><li>Function as a design reviewer as needed, assuring compliance with engineering design sketches and calculations, applicable design codes, fabrication and constructability, industry standards, clearness, completeness/dimensional accuracy of the design, and drafting presentation.

Expected:

JOB SUMMARY:

The CAD/Revit Plumbing and Mechanical Piping Designer is responsible for producing and coordinating detailed system layouts using AutoCAD Fabrication MEP, Revit, and Navisworks. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure designs are accurate, fully coordinated, and compliant with project specifications and applicable codes. The designer plays a key role in supporting constructability, clash detection, and efficient installation of plumbing and mechanical piping systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

<li>Develop and modify detailed plumbing and mechanical piping system drawings using AutoCAD Fabrication MEP 2023/2024, Revit 2023/2024, and Navisworks 2023/2024 for coordination and installation.</li>
<li>Design and coordinate mechanical piping systems including chilled water lines, hot water (heating) lines, chiller connections, and equipment layouts.</li>
<li>Confirm DX (Direct Expansion) line sizes and lengths with vendors to ensure proper equipment performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.</li>
<li>Produce isometric spool drawings for fabrication and installation of mechanical piping.</li>
<li>Utilize Bluebeam Review and Procore for document management, markup, and project coordination.</li>
<li>Produce valve and fixture schedules, equipment layouts, material requisitions, and specification checklists for project execution.</li>
<li>Review job specifications, contract plans, scopes of work, and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.</li>
<li>Incorporate company drafting standards and best practices into design deliverables.</li>
<li>Create floor sleeve and wall penetration coordination drawings with dimensions and elevations.</li>
<li>Conduct site visits (minimum twice per month) to enhance knowledge of plumbing and piping installation methods and identify cost-saving opportunities.</li>
<li>Generate RFIs with clear descriptions of conflicts and suggested resolutions for project managers.</li>
<li>Participate in BIM coordination meetings and collaborate with other trades to resolve conflicts.</li>
