Description 
 
Apple&rsquo;s Sensing, Power, and Haptics team, which supports hardware development across all product lines, is looking for a Mechanical Lab Technician who will be responsible for assisting in the fabrication, assembly/disassembly, and design of prototype parts and assemblies. 
 
The ideal candidate will have hands on experience operating CNC mills, laser cutters, and 3D Printers, as well as performing mechanical assembly and disassembly tasks. This role engages with technologists, engineers and others in order to push the technology envelope. This role requires strong collaboration skills, a team-oriented attitude, and proficiency working within a job submission system to ensure efficient lab operations and timely project completion.&quot;,&quot;responsibilities&quot;:&quot;Design, assemble and modify mechanical and electrical prototypes and test fixtures 
 
Work to resolve issues and identify areas for suggested improvement 
 
Maintain and troubleshoot shop equipment such as CNC&rsquo;s, mills, and 3D printers 
 
Maintain machine shop space, keeping it tidy and organized 
 
Train users on safe operation of machine shop equipment 
 
Supervise and support engineers working in the machine shop 
 
Assist lab management team with overall upkeep and support of engineering lab space 
 
Actively maintain Health and Safety compliance of lab spaces

CNC mill setup and operation with Datron controllers 
 
Experience with metrology equipment operation including optical microscopes (OM), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical measuring machines (OMM), and laser scanners 
 
Electrical rework experience (coarse and fine pitch soldering) 
 
Product repair and assembly experience with Apple or equivalent consumer electronics 
 
Familiarity with handling basic chemical hazards (lubricants, coolant, solvents, paint, 3D print resin) 
 
Technical AS/BS preferred, or equivalent work experience 
 
Minimum Qualifications 
 
Prior lab technician experience and operate and maintain CNC mills to produce parts according to technical drawings and CAD files. 
 
Prepare 2D files for operating laser cutters and digital cutters and manage 3D printing operations, including printer setup, material selection, print monitoring, and post-processing for FDM and SLA printers 
 
Process and prioritize job submissions through our tracking system, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation 
 
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to shop safety and housekeeping 
 
Physically capable of working in a shop environment and lifting up to 25 lbs

Provide intermediate to advanced calibration and repair services on electronic, electro-mechanical, physical, dimensional, mechanical, and optical Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the assigned Precision Measurement Engineering Laboratory (PMEL).</li><li>
Captures test readings using common instruments such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, pulse generators, power meters, torque calibrator, temperature, and pressure measurement devices.</li><li>
Utilize TMDE to troubleshoot and repair systems and circuit boards to component level, to include surface-mount technology.</li><li>
Perform daily operations in accordance with established safety and security practices.</li><li>
Perform daily work assignments to ensure QMS goals are met or exceeded.</li><li>
Participates in root cause analysis process and corrective action determination meetings as required.</li><li>
Provide technical guidance and training to other technicians, when required.</li><li>
