Assist with filing and sorting of incoming faxes and scans from centers</li></ul>
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
Thorough knowledge of business English, modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.
Experience and comfortable working knowledge of computers and Windows-based software programs and Adobe.
Experience in electronic health records storage preferred (i.e., scanning, filing, etc.).
Thorough understanding of VBHCS policies and practices relating to medical records.</div>

Position Summary
 The Health Information Management Specialist is responsible for coordination of medical records, physician dictation & transcription, and any other administrative duties.
 Location: Bellevue ENT - Bellevue clinic
 Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
 Key Duties and Responsibilities
 The key duties and responsibilities of the Health Information Management Specialist include, but are not limited to:
 <ul>
<li>Responsible for maintaining accurate tracking file for receipt of dictation and signatures.</li>
<li>Communications with physicians and their care teams to ensure timely receipt of dictation and signatures.</li>
<li>Responsible for meeting active annual goals for the medical records department with chart audits and compliance.</li>
<li>Verify and operate within state mandated requirements for medical records requests.</li>
<li>Issue invoices and track payments from entities requesting medical records.</li>
<li>Retrieve appropriate chart documentation as indicated by the facility policy for returning patients.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality and compliance measures for medical records maintenance at the center.</li>
<li>Tracking completion of pathology reports.</li>
<li>Assist with the registration of surgery patients including obtaining all appropriate insurance information and signatures from patients.</li>
<li>Assist in retrieval hospital/ER records for all transfer patients and/or cases.</li>
<li>Accountable for reporting occurrences through the established reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events.</li>
<li>Fosters the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, trainees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor as needed).</li>
<li>Participates in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements.</li>
<li>Assists in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of Surgery Center resources.</li>
<li>Any and all other duties as assigned including those assigned to Patient Services Representative (see Patient Services Representative Job Description).</li>

Education/Experience

<li>High School diploma/GED or equivalent</li>
<li>Medical terminology knowledge preferred</li>
<li>Two years of experience in related field preferred</li>
