About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Medical Screener. The Medical Screener plays a vital role in donor eligibility by conducting health screenings, performing medical tests, and ensuring donor safety and comfort throughout the process. Responsibilities include greeting and interviewing donors, verifying identification, recording health information, and performing vital sign measurements in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements. Ideal candidates will excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and a commitment to safety and confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to providing a positive donor experience. This position reports to the Center Manager.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Perform donor screening procedures in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Conduct health history interviews and measure vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight) to assess donor eligibility.</li><li>
Verify donor identification and accurately document information in the electronic system.</li><li>
Greet and engage donors to provide a positive and comfortable experience.</li><li>
Adhere strictly to infection control, safety protocols, and donor confidentiality.</li></ul>

Guide donors through the health screening process, including reviewing self-administered health history forms and determining if further medical review is needed.</li><li>
Perform vital signs assessments (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight) and fingerstick blood sampling to measure hematocrit and total protein levels.</li><li>
Prepare and calibrate screening equipment according to SOPs, performing basic troubleshooting as needed.</li><li>
Monitor donor safety during the screening and donation process, identifying and reporting adverse reactions to medical staff.</li><li>
Explain the donation process, plasma center policies, and donor safety guidelines in a clear and professional manner.</li><li>
Maintain accurate donor records and ensure all documentation meets cGMP and regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Operate internal computer systems, including the National Donor Deferral Registry (NDDR) and Cross Donation Check System (CDCS), according to approved guidelines.</li><li>
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area, including updating supply lot numbers when new lots are introduced.</li><li>
Support the plasmapheresis process by preparing collection machines, monitoring donor comfort, and assisting with disconnection procedures when needed.</li><li>
Participate in center audits by providing accurate records and compliance documentation.</li><li>
Work collaboratively with other staff to meet production goals and maintain a positive donor experience.</li><li>
Answer donor and public inquiries in a courteous and knowledgeable manner, transferring calls as necessary.</li></ul></div></div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Qualifications and need-to-know</h2></div><div><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>
At least 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare, retail, or plasma/blood collection setting.</li><li>
Clinical Laboratory Personnel license required in the State of Louisiana.</li><li>
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.</li><li>
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance.</li><li>
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.</li><li>
Familiarity with FDA, cGMP, and OSHA standards is a plus.</li></ul></div></div></div>
