Description:</b>
</div><p>Mid-Michigan GEAR UP (MMGU), a Gaining Early Awareness &amp; Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Partnership grant initiative (CFDA # 84.334A), is a federally funded grant program designed to provide high-quality education and enrichment services for GEAR UP students in two cohorts, grades 6 &ndash; 7, attending low-income schools across three partner school districts: Lansing School District, Ypsilanti Community Schools and Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System.
</p><p>Graduation Coach to work 5 days per week in Ypsilanti Community Schools.
</p></div><p>Minimum Requirements</p>
<ul><li>Masters degree in Education or related field;</li>
<li>GEAR UP experience strongly preferred;</li>
<li>Five + years in middle or high school academic planning / guidance counseling;</li>
<li>Ability to work in collaboration with multiple schools, faculties and administrators;</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate with community partners - businesses, agencies and organizations;</li>
<li>5+ years of experience in postsecondary strategies, programming and enrichment activities;</li>
<li>5+ years of experience providing college prep services and academic planning;</li>
<li>Experience in data analysis;</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills;</li>
<li>Experience working with low-income and / or first-generation college going students preferred;</li>
<li>Desire to improve quality of education provided to Mid-Michigan GEAR UP students;</li>
<li>Working directly with students at Ypsilanti Community Schools locations;</li>
<li>Ability to travel among Davenport University campuses, partner K-12 school districts, and to attend conferences, trainings, and professional development events; and</li>
<li>Willingness to attend and coordinate events outside of regular business hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, as required to support program activities and university initiatives.</li>
</ul><p>Primary Activities / Responsibilities</p>
<ul><li>Provide academic enrichment, informational, and motivational opportunities and interventions, including mentoring, tutoring, and advising activities (before, after, during school hours) for GEAR UP cohort students including at-risk, LEP, online, and special education students.</li>
<li>Initiate and monitor career/college/life skills portfolios to track student performance outcomes and GEAR UP participation.</li>
<li>Organize group events such as student assemblies and pep rallies, family night events, and other student and parent support activities (before school, during school, after school, evenings, Saturdays) that encourage students to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities and prepare for careers.</li>
<li>Provide one-on-one, group, and family advice about admissions and financial aid.</li>
<li>Establish productive working relationships with building principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned middle and high schools.</li>
<li>Assist grant director and district personnel to staff trips and events at other program sites, campuses, and workplaces.</li>
<li>Identify, collect, enter, and interpret key data to evaluate grant effectiveness.</li>
<li>Participate in professional development to increase college and career readiness.</li>
<li>Launch Postsecondary Accountability strategies to track student enrollment in college after graduation.</li>
<li>Assist students with multiple online platforms, services, and applications, especially FAFSA.</li>
<li>Develop and distribute grant, program and department-specific materials including flyers, brochures, posters, handbooks, reports and letters.</li>
<li>Complete grant duties as needed to facilitate full implementation of the Mid-Michigan GEAR UP.</li>
<li>Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our stakeholders.</li>

In this role, you will guide elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning activities at a Y Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program which is designed to provide a safe and caring place for students outside of the classroom. You will support the program supervisor and help teach teamwork and social emotional learning to kids as they grow and learn all while encouraging skill building, creative exploration, physical activity, and most of all, fun. Lead instructors will also be supporting our Play Everyday Program 2 - 4 days per week during the middle of the day which is a recess based program at their school.</p><div></div><ul><li><br>

<div><p>Conduct duties as athletic coach as well as teach assigned classes. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.</p><br>

<div><div>DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:</div>
</div><br>
<div><div><div><ul><li>Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District&rsquo;s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).</li></ul>
<ul><li>Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).</li></ul>
<ul><li>Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines including professional communication and responsiveness.

</li></ul><ul><li>Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.
</li></ul><ul><li>Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
</li></ul><ul><li>Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.
</li></ul><ul><li>Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.
</li></ul><ul><li>Attend all required campus and District meetings.

The Varsity Football Head Coach will be a 12-month contracted position (salary commensurate with both education and previous experience), and will additionally be paid the following annual stipends:</p><ul><li>
$5,600.00 stipend for head football coach duties</li><li>
$5,000.00 stipend for duties associated with weight room activities and scheduling.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Essential Functions:</b></p><ul><li>
Coach the high school varsity football team.</li><li>
Build and maintain a sustainable, winning football program by organizing and directing the activities of the assistant coaches from Middle School to High School.</li><li>
Teach fundamental football skills to student athletes incorporating the appreciation for its traditions and values of sportsmanship.</li><li>
Assure that all student-athletes are eligible to play and enforce the academic tutoring plan for Roanoke City Schools.</li><li>
Participate in the evaluation of all football coaches in the relevant high school and middle school football programs.</li><li>
Develop and/or expand relationships with WFHS athletic booster club and community-based athletic organizations.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Required Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>
The head coach must work in the building.</li><li>
Three to five years of experience as a head football coach or assistant football coach in a high school, collegiate, or professional football program.</li><li>
Successful record of accomplishment in creating a high-quality football program.</li><li>
Strong values of leadership, sportsmanship, fair play, and interpersonal relationship skills.</li><li>
Able to serve as an ambassador for both the school division and the football program in the community.</li><li>
Hold all certification(s) required for coaching high school football, and meet all coaching requirements of VHSL, RCPS, and/or other entities with standing.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Preferred Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>
The preferred candidate will possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license at the high school level and meet standards for highly qualified under Every Student Succeeds Act. Working in a teaching position in order to coach is not a requirement, though it is preferred that the individual be employed in some other capacity within the school building.</li></ul><p></p><p><br>
