The Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment such as RT 240 Kalmar or RTCHs, forklifts, tractor/trailers and various types of military equipment/vehicles. Equipment is used to load/unload, transport or relocate military equipment/vehicles/cargo for/from multiple forms of transport (i.e. rail, truck/trailer, etc.). Heavy Equipment Operator may read and interpret grade and slope signs, may grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment.
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Keeps the Heavy Equipment operator lead and/or Transportation Manager updated on missions and equipment status, etc.</li><li>
Unloads vehicles and equipment from commercial carriers in a timely manner so as to avoid detention charges. Loads and unloads conveyances with or without helpers, and moves freight by forklift, handcart, or other manual equipment.</li><li>
Receives turn-in vehicles from customer units in accordance with wheeled and tracked vehicle turn-in instructions IAW External SOP.</li><li>
May perform a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work involves most of the following: Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages; routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods; rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials; examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage; removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.</li><li>
Unloads and stores vehicles, containers and equipment marked for units when the unit is not available to receive the equipment due to training, deployment, or other operational reasons. The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation&rsquo;s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.
We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.

Landfill Heavy Equip Operator

<div>POSITION SUMMARY: The Operator &ndash; Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner. 
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean. Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.</li><li>
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.</li><li>
Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed.</li><li>
Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring more complicated mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.</li><li>
Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports, as necessary; report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed.</li><li>
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.</li><li>
Ensure that shop is clean, serviced and stored at the completion of each shift.</li><li>
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li></ul> 
QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.</li><li>
Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.</li><li>
Good follow through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.</li><li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.</li><li>
One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.</li></ul>
Shift: Monday - Friday; overtime eligibility
Paid Weekly - Fridays
Preference to candidates with heavy equipment experience including: Dozers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Front End Loaders.<div><div>

The pay range for this position is $21.90 to $30.07* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.<div><div>
