 Primary purpose of the position is to facilitate MRI services for the BRIC utilizing technical and administrative expertise. Technical areas of responsibility include providing for the safety of research subjects during research studies, and conducting MRI , MR/ PET , PET /CT, and CT studies with and without the use of radioactive nuclides. Administrative areas of responsibility include ensuring proper use of the scheduling system for imaging research services, adherence to safety standards and SOPs, logging accurate machine time usage for billing purposes and managing relationships with multiple investigators. This work involves caring for research subjects and clinical patients of all ages, and levels of health. This includes children as young as 2 weeks of age and spanning adulthood. Applicants should have a high level of comfort in working with subjects/patients of all ages, and people ranging from the very healthy to those who are very ill and toward the end of life.

 High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in medical diagnostics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses.

<div><p><b>Major Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>
Competently operates magnetic resonance (MR) equipment used to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures. Procedures include routine musculoskeletal, neurological and orthopedic imaging, arthrogram, neurological angiography, body imaging, and small joint imaging.</li><li>
Obtains medical history from patients, compares requisitions to physician's orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy, and prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.</li><li>
Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides magnet protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.</li><li>
Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.</li><li>
Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.</li><li>
Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.</li><li>
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.</li><li>
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.</li></ul><p><b><br>
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:</b></p><ul><li>
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), or</li><li>
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or</li><li>
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and</li><li>
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) registration and certification issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 2 years, and</li><li>
