JOB DUTIES
<br>Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, sedation, and applicability to the MRI protocol. Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects, which would prohibit or modify the MRI exam. Discuss findings with the physicist and radiologist as applicable. If modification of a MRI protocol is necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, etc. Document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Ensure other resources such as nursing have been schedule accordingly.

Interviews patient (two patient identifier), conducts patient screening and obtains medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria. Explains procedure and instructs patient on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answers questions/screening concerning procedures and IV contrast for relevant exams. Assists the physician as needed in performing procedures. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.

Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Administers intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate, observes patients for adverse reactions.
<br><br>
Performs MRI ensuring that patient meets safety requirements to MRI contraindications. Assist patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam. Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and evaluates the patient's ability to tolerate.

Performs QC testing and reports problems with MRI systems and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership.
<br><br>
Maintains various data sets (ex. Baseline scans, 12 month scans, 24 month scans) and archives. Performs data calculations, scoring and statistical analyses while following established QC standards for digital images. Participates in accreditation imaging requirements.
<br><br>
Performs post processing on MRI systems and remote workstations. May include, but not limited to, MIPing, MPR, 3-D rendering, qualitative and color mapping for breast imaging, ADC mapping and color mapping of diffusion scans, cardiac analysis to assess cardiac function including ejection fractions and wall thickness, spectroscopy analysis, and calculation of T1 and T2 values. Must be able to lift 40-50lbs.

Responds to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional manner. Communicates shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.

Functions in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team, and collaborates in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines. POSITION SUMMARY<br>
This position plans for adequate resource management in relation to equipment, instrumentation and supplies for a specific imaging modality. Supervises staff and serves as a clinical resource to staff, providers, providers' office staff, vendors and other departments. Effectively coordinates specialty care within Imaging. May perform prescribed procedures as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.<br>

CORE FUNCTIONS<br>
1. Interviews, selects and hires qualified department staff that can make a significant contribution. Conducts performance management sessions according to policies and guidelines. Demonstrates effective communication skills, problems solving, and conflict resolution in the management of the assigned clinical service lines, keeping the appropriate people informed.<br>

2. Plans care for patients in the specific modality by managing the daily schedule and ensuring adequate staff are available for the shift. Works with specialty providers and providers' offices in regard to coordinating resources. Collaborates with various departments, outside vendors, and other departments to assure adequate resources and the proper coordination of safe, efficient patient care.<br>

3. Serves as a specialty resource to patient, families, providers, providers' offices and various internal departments (i.e. operating room staff, ED, nursing floors, etc) in interpreting department, facility and system policies, and facilitating medical care. Seen as the clinical expert in the specific specialties.<br>

4. Supports change and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of goals/objectives, and quality management activities within the clinical service lines.<br>

5. Prioritizes and plans for specialty resources, working with the department management team to meet financial goals.<br>

6. May perform all functions of a Technologist, performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers&rsquo; orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.<br>

7. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Adheres to safety policies.<br>

8. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.<br>

9. This position functions within the Imaging department of the assigned facility. Provides input regarding department budget and operations and participates on committees as assigned. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.<br>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<br>

Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program.<br>
<br>
Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. Advance certification by accrediting body in specialty required if applicable. BLS certification.<br>

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 3-5 years of experience relevant to patient population. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.<br>

Summary/Objective:</b></p>
<p>
The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patient care experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT II will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engaging with the patient on exam expectations and wait times. The PCT II will assist the patient with any incomplete clinical pre-screening forms or consents and conduct the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist&rsquo;s final review. The position will perform advanced clinical screening interviews specific to CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine examinations for technologist review. In addition, the PCT II will contact the referring provider office to obtain updated orders, clarify orders, and determine when a new order is required. The PCT II must ensure patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam&rsquo;s scheduled date. The PCT II is responsible for requesting and validating the patient&rsquo;s prior reports and images, and ensuring the clinical review has been conducted in a timely manner, prior to the patient&rsquo;s exam. Miscellaneous duties include: stocking the changing rooms, tech supplies etc.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Functions</b></p>
<p>
1. Performs detailed clinical screening of CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.</p>

2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.</p>
<p>
3. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.</p>
<p>
4. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.</p>
<p>
5. Supports the technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.</p>
<p>
6. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.</p>
<p>
7. Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation. Sends images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.</p>
<p>
8. Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.</p>
<p>
9. Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.</p>
<p>
10. Other duties as assigned.</p>
