Responsibilities

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Patient Care Technicians in the Surgery Specialty Services Unit (2RC) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This unit is part of the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division.
 
The Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit. We serve a variety of patient populations including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients. The surgical patients include otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. We are able to provide our patients with all private rooms, which allows for a more comfortable experience for both patients and their families. We have a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team that helps to provide excellent patient care to all patients on our unit. Our goal is to provide each patient an individualized care plan, and provide them the support and care they need and deserve.
 
On 2 JCP We Provide Care for Patients with These Conditions:

Compensation: $24 to $26 hourly, depending on experience, plus lease renewal bonuses.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">

As a Multi-Site Maintenance Technician II, you operate independently across multiple trades. You complete service requests, preventative maintenance, and full turns with confidence while helping maintain high operational standards across the properties you support.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
What You&rsquo;ll Do</h3>
Skilled Repairs &amp; Diagnostics<ul><li>
Independently complete service requests and make-ready turns.</li><li>
Diagnose and repair intermediate HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance issues.</li><li>
Conduct preventative maintenance and building inspections.</li></ul>
Operational Execution<ul><li>
Participate in move-in/move-out inspections.</li><li>
Maintain inventory and shop organization.</li><li>
Respond to on-call and emergency service requests.</li></ul>
Safety, Tools &amp; Compliance<ul><li>
Demonstrate safe operation of tools, diagnostic equipment, and chemical safety procedures.</li><li>
Maintain personal tool inventory.</li><li>
Complete required safety and compliance training.</li></ul>

What We&rsquo;re Looking For</h3>
Experience<ul><li>
2+ years maintenance experience required (multifamily preferred).</li><li>
Intermediate-level skills across multiple trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).</li><li>
Working knowledge of appliances.</li><li>
High School Diploma or GED.</li></ul>
Certifications<ul><li>
Universal EPA Certification is preferred.</li><li>
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification is preferred (where applicable).</li></ul>
Skills<ul><li>
Comfortable diagnosing routine HVAC, plumbing, and electrical issues.</li><li>
Ability to complete full make-ready turns independently.</li><li>
Safe use of meters and diagnostic tools.</li><li>
Proficient with work-order systems and basic computer and mobile technology.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Other Requirements</h3>
Availability
This position will require availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Active participation in team functions and regional or company activities is expected.
Physical Demands
This position necessitates regular periods of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching as well as use of hands and arms. The role may require lifting 50 pounds independently. The ability to respond promptly to both visual and auditory alarms is essential. Specific vision requirements include the ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The team member must be able to work both indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, and sleet. Working at a personal computer for administrative tasks and using mobile devices while in the field is required.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
