 The iDeas Lab, the award-winning creative and digital production department at CSIS, seeks highly motivated and creative candidates for a full-time, six-month multimedia production internship with our dynamic and fast-paced team in Washington D.C. beginning early May 2026. Responsibilities will focus primarily on video production assignments, as well as audio production for our suite of podcasts.

 The iDeas Lab enhances CSIS's policy research and analysis with the latest in audio, video, design, and web products. You can see some of our work here or on YouTube. The iDeas Lab is a creative environment made up of three major sub-teams - video/audio production, web development, and design. We are a highly collaborative team and often use our skills and passion in many different creative arenas.

 The multimedia production intern will primarily support the multimedia producers while also working with the other iDeas Lab sub-teams, supporting a range of creative efforts across the spectrum of CSIS issue areas. We are looking for a creative, energetic, self-starter who has a passion for video and a strong desire to experience the many different facets and phases of digital media production. The multimedia production intern will work closely with the entire department on creative projects that partner with some of the most respected foreign policy experts and researchers in the world to tell compelling public policy stories.

 The internship is structured to provide aspiring professionals with practical experience and hard-skill building, and to add content to their professional portfolios.

 The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($18.00/hour for current undergraduate hires, $19.00/hour for hires with a bachelor&rsquo;s degree, and $20.00/hour for hires with a master&rsquo;s degree).

  Essential Duties And Responsibilities

 Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

 Responsibilities will focus primarily on video production assignments, as well as audio production for our suite of podcasts. The iDeas Lab enhances CSIS's policy research and analysis with the latest in audio, video, design, and web products.

   Serve as a primary video editor for CSIS vertical videos and video podcast episodes using Adobe Premiere and Riverside
  </li>

   Support studio set-up and edit interviews for long-form video

   Source B-roll and music for CSIS video products, and conduct pre-production research as needed
  </li>
  <li>
   Edit full-length podcast episodes and other audio features using Adobe Audition
  </li>

   Track and compile metrics for various iDeas Lab products

The Assistant Video Editor will be responsible for editing and producing a range of multimedia content, including in-person interview videos, virtual podcasts and occasional animations in different formats. This role will directly support the production for a media publication that features a range of interviews with federal technology leaders and industry executives.<br>

Responsibilities:<br>

Produce and edit multimedia content, including video interviews, basic animations, and audio podcasts for various platforms (web, social media, conferences, presentations, etc.) in collaboration with the production lead.</li><li>
Support the production of a media publication that includes interviews with federal leaders, for both in-person and virtual video and audio formats.</li><li>
Collaborate with the production lead to develop creative concepts for existing products and strategies for improving production.</li><li>
Ensure all multimedia content meets the company's brand standards and quality requirements.</li><li>
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and project schedules in collaboration with the production lead.</li><li>
Provide technical support on virtual and occasional on-site recordings as needed.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<div><b>
Required Skills and Experience:</b></div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Multimedia Production, Digital Media, Film, Communications, or a related field.</li><li>
Minimum of 1 years of experience in multimedia production, including formats beyond video editing such as animation, graphic design, and audio production.</li><li>
Proficiency with multimedia production software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator), Descript and other AI editing software.</li><li>
Strong technical skills with color correcting video and modulating audio from raw recordings.</li><li>
Excellent creative and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail and visual aesthetics.</li><li>
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize edits to meet deadlines.</li><li>
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.</li><li>
Ability to occasionally work non-traditional hours, including potential weekends and evenings when needed</li></ul>

Posted Pay Range</b></div><div>
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an &ldquo;at-will position&rdquo; and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.</div>
