Position Description:
The Sherman Fairchild Reading Room seeks an intern that will be an active member of the
Reading Room team. The successful candidate will experience invigilating rare material, conduct
preliminary research for readers and retrieve material from our Reference Collection. They will
be supervised and mentored by the Head of Reader Services. Intern tasks will include but are not
limited to sorting, paging, and reshelving reference books and other secondary source materials,
including microfilms and internal files, as well as inputting and updating electronic records. The
intern will also work on other library projects and miscellaneous office tasks related to statistical
gathering and processing. The intern will work primarily in the Sherman Fairchild Reading
Room. Candidates must be committed to working 28 hours per week.

and provenance information on works in the photography collection. The intern's tasks will
include organizing records for incoming photographs and reviewing records from throughout the
history of the department. The goal in both cases is consistency and accuracy, which will entail
checking records against original objects. This project is most suitable for an intern with strong
interest in the history of photography and in the registrarial side of curatorial work.

 Position Description:
The Collection Information Department is looking for an intern interested in developing data skills by contributing to an ongoing project of inventorying and listing a large print collection. Working with items in hand, tasks include matching descriptive records to items in the collection, creating records in CORSAIR, the Morgan's collections database, and generating thumbnails for each print. The intern will learn about the data structure of the Morgan's collection descriptions, and, depending on skills, will be invited to contribute to designing user-friendly access to this large collection. Working under the supervision of the Director of Collection Information and instructed by members of the Department, the intern will participate in the day-to-day activities of collection information specialists and in the larger institutional life of the Morgan. The intern is also expected to contribute to any and all data projects that become a priority for the Department during the period of the internship.

Position Description:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in Imaging and Rights. The department
provides access to the Morgan&rsquo;s rare collections via digital surrogates and clears rights and permissions
for various uses. The successful candidate will assist with an inventory of analogue image assets and
paper files, in addition to assisting with preparing images for use in Morgan publications and exhibition-
related projects such as press and publicity, audio guides, and Morgan Shop uses, organizing images and
tracking spreadsheets, assisting with print color proofing, and maintaining image and copyright credits.
The intern will also update descriptive metadata in image files and will ingest these prepared image files
into the Morgan digital asset management system (DAM). This requires accessing databases,
embedding metadata into image files, and, after DAM ingest, reviewing, revising, and correcting data
when necessary.

communications strategies for select exhibitions and programs. Working closely with the
Communications and Marketing team, the intern will help create exhibition-specific
communications plans, including identifying target audiences and appropriate channels; conduct

and audiences to support broader engagement goals; and help gather social media content for the
Morgan's social media platforms. This internship offers hands-on experience in strategic
communications, audience development, and community-focused marketing within a museum
setting.

The Morgan Library & Museum 2026 - Communications and Marketing Summer Internship

Library Foundation of Los Angeles

<div>Description:

The Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) seeks a curatorial intern to assist with planning and implementation of a special exhibition that will feature the fabrication of the newly-commissioned World&rsquo;s Largest Pop-Up Book. The project, produced in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) as part of the centennial celebrations for LA Central Library, will open in mid-July 2026 and run through November 2026.
This exhibition will highlight Central Library&rsquo;s Toy Movable Collection, an archive of over 1,000 intricate pop-up books, and explore the surprising significance of Los Angeles to the history of pop-up and movable books. The World&rsquo;s Largest Pop-Up Book represents a significant logistical and engineering feat, and the original artwork by Daniel Gonz&aacute;lez is sure to engage the library&rsquo;s diverse audiences. Since the show will open in the middle of the internship period, this will be a very exciting time to see behind the scenes of a unique large-scale exhibition in its final stages of development.
The curatorial intern&rsquo;s tasks will include assisting with exhibition materials and displays during installation, development of content for the project website and social media, and regular communication with project team members, including LFLA and LAPL staff, the commissioned artist, paper engineer, designer, fabricators, and preparators. The intern may also assist with exhibition opening celebration logistics, and documentation needed for world record certification. Following the public launch of the exhibition additional tasks may include assisting with associated public programs and conducting original research for future exhibitions.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:<ul><li>
Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in either a bachelor&rsquo;s degree program or an associate&rsquo;s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2026. Students who graduated after April 1, 2026 are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)</li><li>
Attend college in OR be a permanent resident of LA County; and</li><li>
Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a &quot;green card&quot; holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.</li><li>
Getty Marrow Undergraduate interns can participate multiple times, but must intern at a different organization each summer.</li></ul>

Candidates are sought from all areas of undergraduate study at any higher education institution&mdash;community college, trade school, and public and private university&mdash;and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts.

Full-time, Monday-Friday/ 9:30 AM-6:00 PM
Stipend Amount (Salary)
$7,400.00 for the 10 weeks (paid semi-monthly according to LFLA payroll schedule)
Location
In-person at the Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles
