Requests assistance in planning and prioritizing activities as needed. Participate in self-review as requested by the unit director.</li><li>
Suggests and support changes within the department.</li><li>
Contributes to the universal unit activities including, but not limited to, responding to call lights and telephones, passing meal trays, and transporting patients.</li><li>
Provides direct patient care as directed by the RN including all activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting and ambulating patients.</li><li>
Acquires and distribute supplies and equipment to facilitate patient care delivery including, but not limited to, performing messenger functions, ordering, charging/crediting supplies, setting up patient care equipment within the scope of the nursing assistant position and stocking patient rooms and unit supply areas.</li><li>
Performs routine tests such as blood glucose monitoring, patient weights, vital signs and I&amp;Os.</li><li>
Constructively receives feedback and direction.</li><li>
Provides companionship/supervision one in one with patients as required.</li><li>
Delivers patient nourishments, fill water pitchers and distribute patient mail.</li><li>
May apply, monitor, and remove patient restraints as per physician or hospital protocol. Provide diversion activities to reduce or prevent use of restraints.</li><li>

JOB SUMMARY
 Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science.
 
The Research Technician II will support Dr. Bartelt’s laboratory, which focuses on single-cell functional genomics, neurodegeneration, and gene therapy development. This role assists with AAV plasmid cloning, single-cell sequencing workflows, and mouse colony management. The position also supports daily lab operations, data analysis, and documentation. Ideal candidates will have hands-on molecular biology and rodent experience, along with an interest in advanced genomic technologies relevant to research on epigenetic mechanisms underlying spinocerebellar ataxias.
 Key Duties
 Perform high-efficiency cloning and purification of AAV plasmids for functional genomic assays.
 Assist with single-cell sequencing workflows, including nuclear isolation, library preparation, and reagent optimization.
 Manage mouse colony activities—including breeding, weaning, genotyping—and assist with tissue harvesting.
 Maintain lab operations by placing orders, managing inventory, and ensuring essential reagents are stocked.
 Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and documentation of research data.
 Perform basic data analysis and visualization for reports and manuscripts.
 Review scientific literature and discuss innovative molecular and genomic methods with the PI.
 
Preferred qualification: 
Experience with AAV plasmid cloning and molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation).
 Hands-on experience with mouse handling, colony management, and genotyping.
 Familiarity with single-cell sequencing workflows or spatial genomic techniques.
 Basic analytical skills using GraphPad Prism, R, Python, or similar tools.
 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation.
 Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and ability to adapt to evolving research needs.
 Interest or background in neurodegeneration, gene therapy, or epigenetics.
 Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
 At least one year of laboratory experience (molecular biology, neuroscience, or related research).
 Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA extraction.
 Basic experience with rodent handling or willingness to work with animal models.
 Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow established laboratory protocols.

What qualifications you will need:</h6><ul><li>
minimum of a High school diploma or GED required.</li><li>
1+ years of experience in an acute care setting, Preferred.</li><li>
Kansas Certified Nursing Assistant License required or completion of the HCA Patient Care Tech Essentials training.</li><li>
BCLS certification required upon hire.</li><li>
With no hospital-based experience, must be able to attend the PCT Essentials training (M-F 8a &ndash; 5pm first 2 weeks of employment) beginning April 2026.</li></ul>

Position Summary
We&rsquo;re seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Surgical Neurophysiologist. This is an entry-level opportunity that offers paid training and mentorship in the growing field of surgical neurophysiology. No prior neurodiagnostic experience is required&mdash;just a strong work ethic, a scientific mindset, and a passion for patient care.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Assist with patient prep, electrode application, and monitoring setup in the operating room</li><li>
Observe and support neurophysiological data collection during surgeries</li><li>
Participate in structured, supervised training to become CNIM-eligible</li><li>
Maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital safety and infection control protocols</li><li>
