 ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) - No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A bachelor's (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an appropriate social or biological science - which included or was supplemented by 12 semester hours in Psychology. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the above requirements - you must also meet one of the requirements listed below to qualify for this position: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services - training or research of which at least six (6) months is comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service - or one (1) year is comparable to the second lower grade level(GS-5). (This experience must be documented in your resume to be considered.) Examples of qualifying experience include: Performing one or more of a variety of technical tasks in a program of research or other professional services in psychology; Assisting in research as in systematic collection of psychology research data - recording and collecting of data - preparing tabular or graphic presentation of data - in accordance with a predetermined research plan; Assisting counseling psychologists in contacting potential employers for purpose of making vocational placement - providing follow-up consultation - administering and scoring of interest - achievement and aptitude tests - securing work history and other relevant vocational information; Assisting neuropsychologist in administering and scoring of selected tests of a neuropsychology battery in accordance with clearly defined procedures; Assisting psychologists in completing behavior rating scales or in conducting behavior modification. ~OR~ EDUCATION: One full year of graduate study (or 18 semester hours) in Psychology at an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge - skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) ~OR~ COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education as described above which meets the total experience requirements for this grade level (GS-7).    The instruments used include specialized - complicated neuropsychological assessment techniques - beyond introductory assessment knowledge - requiring more extensive training and skill in administration and scoring

<b>Job Summary:</b> The Psychologist will provide psychological services for children, adolescents, and young adults. They will conduct psychological assessments in areas such as cognitive functioning, emotional well-being, personality, and neuropsychological functioning. The Psychologist will offer indivdual, group, and/or family psychotherapy. In this role, the Psychologist will develop treatment recommendations, collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team, and provide clinical supervision for trainees.
<br><br>
<b>Essential Responsibilities:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Administer, score, and interpret standardized psychological tests and produce reports.</li>
<li>Perform diagnostic evaluations for conditions such as learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, psychotic and mood disorders, and trauma-related issues. Administer, score, and interpret standardized psychological tests and produce reports.</li>
<li>Offer individual, group, or family psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities (e.g., Dialectical Behavior Therapy).</li>
<li>Provide clinical supervision to trainees (e.g., Psychology Postdoctoral Fellows and Psychology Practicum Students) in the provision of psychotherapy, direct psychological assessments, and diagnostic evaluations.</li>
<li>Offer consultation in clinical settings and within Behavioral Health Services/Department of Health and Human Services committees and initiatives. Provide leadership with respect to team functioning, decision-making, cohesiveness, and quality care.</li>
<li>Understand and comply with professional and ethical standards and guidelines in the field of Psychology and mental health care. Conduct behavior in accordance with the law and resolve conflicts between various requirements to the best of one's ability.</li>
<li>Possess and remain current in knowledge of evidence-based treatments in mental health care and practice accordingly. Conduct oneself in a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed manner. Demonstrate and practice cultural humility.</li>
<li>Understand and comply with State, Federal, and other regulatory guidelines, laws, and requirements in the delivery of mental health care and performance of program functions.</li>
<li>Perform all other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<b>Minimum Requirements:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Authorized to work in the United States.</li>
<li>Possession of a valid United States Driver’s License, and able to obtain a Wisconsin Driver’s License within six (6) months after the start date.</li>
<li>Possession of a Psychology PhD or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.).</li>
<li>Completion of a one (1) year predoctoral clinical psychology internship (APA preferred).</li>
<li>Licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Wisconsin no later than the anticipated start date.</li>
<li>At least one (1) year of experience in the provision of psychological services (experience with DBT preferred).</li>
<li>Previous supervisory experience.</li>
<li>Willing and able to travel within the community up to 10% of the time in this role.</li>
</ul>
<b>NOTE:</b> This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position.
