Part-time enrollment at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is required. 6 or more credits and a GPA of 2.0 minimum. Prior experience in journalism, editing, or a student-run publication is strongly preferred, with demonstrated leadership experience considered a plus. Candidates should possess strong computer skills and proficiency with digital publishing, editing, and collaboration tools. A solid understanding of journalistic standards, including AP-style, and experience managing or contributing to editorial workflows is highly desirable.</p>

</b></h2></div></div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Bloomberg News is looking for a versatile and energetic editor to join its commodities and energy group in the Americas. From breaking news on corporate mergers to major moves in global commodity markets to the latest pledges to curb carbon emissions, Bloomberg's coverage in this area is broad, fast-paced and deeply reported. We need someone who can work closely with reporters on tight deadlines to cut through industry jargon and explain important and complex ideas to a global audience.</div>

<div>The successful candidate will be comfortable switching gears between subject matters and different story formats, and will be expected to forge collaborative relationships as part of a multinational news organization that includes our website, TV, radio and Bloomberg Businessweek magazine.</div><div><br>

<div>You'll be wrestling with complicated subject matter that needs to be broken down for the broadest possible audience, and you'll be working with reporters to improve writing and elevate stories. You'll have solid news judgement, and the ability to help reporters quickly join the dots.<br>

This role can be based in New York, Washington D.C., Houston or Chicago.</div><div><br>

</div>Produce crisp and concise edits that resonate with a wide audience <ul><li>- from our most sophisticated terminal users to our broader online readers</li>
<li>Quickly learn about a wide variety of subjects, deepening your own knowledge of energy/commodity companies and markets so you can effectively guide reporters</li>
<li>Move fast. Be accurate. And think ahead. We want to own the biggest stories from start to finish, from the critical first 15 minutes of breaking news all the way to the in-depth features and analysis.</li>
<li>Collaborate with colleagues across teams, bureaus and continents to break news and give a global perspective to our audience</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and develop good relationships with reporters and managers in the group</li></ul><br>

<li>Several years of experience of business or economic news reporting in a real-time environment, ideally with good knowledge of the energy and commodity markets</li>
<li>Strong writing skills and a creative sensibility</li>
<li>Good people skills and a willingness to collaborate across the organization</li>
<li>A sense of urgency and an understanding of what our readers want</li></ul><br>

<div><div><div>The News Photographer/Editor operates television or video cameras and editing equipment to record and produce images or scenes for news reports and other programming. Attention to detail is a key component in being successful in this position.</div></div><ul><li>
Shoots video for news reports</li><li>
Work with news team to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements</li><li>
Sets up, composes and executes video shots</li><li>
Shoots and Edits Special Projects</li><li>
Ability to work on packages with reporters or independently.</li><li>
Maintains video and editing equipment</li><li>
Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content</li><li>
Operates live in microwave and satellite trucks for remote situations</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned</li><li>
Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming</li><li>
Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary</li><li>
Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect</li><li>
Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete spots</li><li>
Sets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product</li><li>
Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story</li><li>
Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects.</li></ul><p></p><p>
Requirements &amp; Skills:</p><ul><li>
High school diploma</li><li>
Fluency in English</li><li>
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written</li><li>
Minimum two years&rsquo; experience operating video recording and video editing equipment</li><li>
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment</li><li>
Ability to use Adobe creative suite preferred</li><li>
Proficiency with video recording and editing equipment</li><li>
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously</li><li>
Flexibility to work any shift</li></ul><p>
