Our Local Delivery Drivers are responsible for safely operating a 26,000 GVW curtain box truck to deliver building products to local customers while adhering to company policies, as well as DOT and other state and federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines. Varied local and in-state routes only. Our Drivers are home weeknights with WEEKENDS OFF. This is a labor-intensive position that requires heavy lifting. Individuals are regularly sitting throughout the day. Safety is a priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Drive a curtain box truck to deliver building products to customers throughout the local area.<ul><li>
Safely operate vehicle in accordance with company policies, as well as DOT and other state and federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines.</li><li>
Follow pre-planned routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency.</li><li>
Loads will be fully loaded by warehouse personnel prior to departure.</li></ul></li><li>
Tie down cargo safely and correctly for transportation.</li><li>
Make multiple customer stops and occasionally assist and observe customers in unloading items by hand or with a forklift.<ul><li>
Ensure that cargo is unloaded safely and securely, including ensuring proper weight distribution and securing with appropriate methods, and ensuring that no product damage occurs to customer orders as well as next stop/future customer deliveries.</li><li>
Interact with customers in a professional manner at delivery points, ensuring proper delivery procedures.</li></ul></li><li>
Perform thorough routine pre- and post-trip DOT inspections on the vehicle. Perform routine basic maintenance tasks to ensure vehicle readiness, including but not limited to, checking fluid levels, lights, safety equipment, and tire pressure.<ul><li>
Communicate and collaborate with dispatch management to promptly report any maintenance issues or safety needs and ensure proper vehicle maintenance per DOT guidelines.</li></ul></li><li>
Regularly communicate with dispatch management for updates to delivery status, delays, or issues, and to receive instructions. Promptly report any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, delivery receipts/logs, inspection reports, customer signatures, and other relevant documentation.</li><li>
Some routes may require driving in snow, and chaining up, depending on the time of year and weather.</li><li>
Some routes may require overnight runs during the week; company paid meals and lodging will be provided for overnight runs.</li><li>
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle. Engage in safe work practices and adhere to OrePac&rsquo;s established safety program and policies at all times.</li><li>
Forklift duties may be assigned to this position. Any assigned forklift duties will first require taking and passing a forklift training course and obtaining a certificate. Forklift duties will include staging and/or stacking material neatly and safely, operating the forklift in a safe manner, filling the forklift with propane fuel, and regularly checking the forklift fluid levels.</li></ul>

Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations, and as required by FMCSA regulation 49 CFR &sect; 391.11.</li><li>

Safely operate a rear-load refuse collection truck along assigned routes.</li><li>
Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing inspection reports as required.</li><li>
Collect and transport waste, recycling, and organics from customer sites, following proper lifting techniques and ensuring material is securely loaded.</li><li>
Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, and route supervisors regarding service issues, delays, or safety concerns.</li><li>
Navigate routes using company-provided devices or route sheets, adapting to changes in traffic, road closures, or weather.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies at all times.</li><li>
Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle, including cab and body.</li><li>
Report any mechanical or safety issues to the maintenance team promptly.</li><li>
Assist with container repairs or replacements as needed.</li><li>
Complete required documentation including logs, customer tickets, and service records accurately.</li><li>
Represent the company professionally through courteous interaction with customers and the public.</li></ul>

Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (Class A preferred)</li><li>

Driver or trash industry experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate</li><li>
Ability to safely lift 40&ndash;50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day</li><li>
Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly and maneuver loaded carts or containers</li><li>
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and elements</li><li>
Must not be sensitive to or bothered by the smell of trash</li><li>
Familiarity with DOT regulations and local traffic laws</li><li>
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude</li><li>
Ability to work well with others in a team environment</li></ul>

Job Type: Full-time, Monday&ndash;Friday, non-exempt position 
Start Time: 6:30 AM daily 
Schedule Requirements: Must be willing to work some Saturdays as needed
