</li></ul>Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Explains procedures to patients and families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
</li><li>Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of radiopharmaceuticals under the American College of Radiology guidelines.
</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams while taking appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.

JOB SUMMARY
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs nuclear medicine procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE<ul><li>
Performs high quality nuclear medicine procedures, according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.</li><li>
Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerate exam.</li><li>
Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.</li><li>
Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.</li><li>
Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.</li><li>
Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.</li><li>

Job Summary
A non-exempt medical office position that performs nuclear medicine procedures used for diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
<div><ul><li>Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
</li><li>Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
</li><li>Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, including adhering to all laws, regulations, and reporting compliance issues promptly.
</li><li>Responsible for proper operation of nuclear medicine equipment in performing various complex nuclear cardiology studies.
</li><li>Prepare, calibrate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and/or pharmaceuticals, as directed by a nuclear cardiologist who is an authorized user on the Radioactive Material License (RML).
</li><li>Prepare patients for all testing procedures.
</li><li>Monitor patient&rsquo;s electrocardiogram (ECG) and vital signs before, during, and after stress testing, as directed by a physician.
</li><li>Perform computer acquisition and processing of complex nuclear data and images for interpretation by nuclear cardiologists.
</li><li>Properly complete patient routing slips and charge tickets with all appropriate CPT and corresponding ICD codes.
</li><li>Observe radiation safety and OSHA guidelines; inventory, order, and maintain all departmental supplies.
</li></ul></div>Qualifications
<div>Education: Graduate of an approved school of nuclear medicine and registered or registry-eligible as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
</div><div>Certification: Completion of Basic 12-Lead ECG and arrhythmia recognition program; BCLS and ACLS certifications.
</div><div>Experience: Work requires a level knowledge of patient care methods, procedures and techniques. Six Months in Nuclear Cardiology Department.

Provides patient care throughout the exam process while maintaining radiation safety standards and regulatory compliance. Serves neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
