The Cardiac Surgical Stepdown unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA).<br>
<br>
Ellison 8, is a thirty six bed adult Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit., located in Boston, MA. Patients are primarily admitted post operatively from the Blake 8 - Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients are also admitted pre-op for cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital heart disease, lethal arrhythmias, S/P coronary bypass graft, S/P valve replacement, ACID placement, and permanent pacemaker placement.<br>

Ideal applicants should be able to provide Day shift training up to 40 hours and weekend coverage every month.<br>

As a Patient Care Technician in our Critical Care department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. This practice specializes in the care of patients with multiple myeloma as well as patients requiring specific procedures in our procedure clinic. These teams have a demonstrated history of providing exquisite, evidence-based patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to work in this invigorating and collaborative environment.

This APP will deliver direct care to outpatients with two days of the work week dedicated to working directly with the multiple myeloma team and two days dedicated to working in the procedure clinic. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure continuity of patient care in the management of their disease and related issues as well as to develop expertise in the field.

Within this role, the advanced practice provider will be responsible for a panel of patients.

Other responsibilities include:<br>
<ul><li>Caring for patients throughout their continuum of care and fostering collaboration with other providers within the hospital and clinics to facilitate patient care.
</li><li>The APP develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of specialized health care for this oncology patient population throughout the care continuum.

Job Overview</b></p><p>
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing primary care for a caseload of patients. As an advanced practice nurse, the NP has received specialized training and education in the management of the acute care. The NP is uniquely qualified to meet the responsibilities of the role which include, but are not limited to: Comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment; Prescribing and performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; Supervise protocols and insure compliance of studies; Development, evaluation and modifications of treatment plans as patient condition warrants; Review/prescribe therapeutic orders for patients; and Participate in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated by patient condition. The NP practices in collaboration with the attending physician and other members of the multidisciplinary team to insure optimal patient outcomes. The NP works in conjunction with the primary nurse to provide patient and family centered care, providing psycho-emotional support, educational support and discharge planning that is individualized and comprehensive. Additionally, the NP will be able to provide clinical consultation and participate in medical and nursing research. 4. Orders and administers drugs in a manner that demonstrates advanced knowledge of pharmacology and medications. Monitors medication treatment according to patient&rsquo;s response.</p><p>
5. Remains knowledgeable about equipment and utilizes equipment in a safe manner.</p><p>
6. Writes clear, comprehensive initial and follow up notes. Orders appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.</p><p>

8. Initiates referrals and consultations with appropriate specialists as indicated.</p><p>
