 Summary
 
 
 
 
 Responsible for taking food orders through direct patient/customer contact and providing excellent food related services. With limited direction performs a variety of clerical duties supporting the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Retrieves, maintains, and/or replaces records/files. Processes patient meal information into the CBORD Nutrition Service Suite program.

 Required: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Electronic competency to work with the various software programs Strong customer service skills, including effective listening skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to perform basic math functions. Must pass a food and nutrition skills competency within 6-month introductory period Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition as related to therapeutic diets. 1 year of experience working in a hospital setting. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.

Provide medical nutrition therapy for children with chronic diseases on an inpatient and outpatient basis, including premature infants and children with cerebral palsy and diabetes.
Position will include: nutrition management of inpatient and outpatient chronic disease pediatric population; Must have extensive knowledge and practice of enteral and parenteral nutrition management. Must be able to work at least 1 evening per week for outpatient clinics.

Review chart/gather data; obtain nutrition history/plot/assess anthropometric data; assess lab data; obtain diet history/feeding ability/growth history/diagnosis; assess drug/nutrient interactions; instruct as appropriate; obtain feedback to teaching/questions; provide literature/education materials; plan future follow-up/provide information; calculate and chart assessment and recommendations in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Ensure diet orders are correct; set diet restrictions and follow-up to monitor accuracy; assist with menu selections of complex/restricted diets; assist with diabetic menus/plan snacks; calculate special infant formulas/supplementation; troubleshoot for feeding problems/food preferences.</div></div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Qualifications</h2></div><div>
Education: MS from ASCEND-accredited program and supervised practice required. Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) and/or Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP) preferred.
Related Work Experience: 2 years pediatric experience preferred
Licensure/Certification: Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Registered Dietitian OR Registered Dietitian (RD) eligible; Licensed in State of Illinois within 6 months of hire.
