The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (OHS) play a key role in supporting employee health, safety, and performance across multiple worksites. You will provide OSHA-compliant first aid, early discomfort intervention, ergonomic assessments, and injury-prevention coaching to help employees improve body mechanics, reduce musculoskeletal strain, and optimize safe movement patterns on the job. This is a hands-on, proactive, and relationship-driven role focused on keeping industrial athletes and working athletes safe, healthy, and productive.
This role is ideal for professionals with backgrounds in industrial medicine, athletic training, industrial sports medicine, ergonomics, occupational health, physical therapy, or exercise science. You&rsquo;ll work directly with employees to help them optimize body mechanics, build physical resilience, and reduce the risk of work-related injuries through hands-on guidance and observation.
Physical Rehabilitation Network (PRN) has delivered worksite health, industrial ergonomics, and employee injury-prevention services for more than 20 years. Many members of our ergonomics and occupational health team have been with PRN for 10+ years. This role supports one of our clients in the Northern California Bay Area and requires local travel between client sites.

 &bull; Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding care plans and health education.
 
 
 &bull; Participate in safety meetings and contribute to discussions on improving workplace health standards.
 
 
 &bull; Liaise with external healthcare providers, hospitals, and clinics to facilitate referrals and ensure proper medical treatment for employees.
 
 
 &bull; Ensure that the medical inventory is maintained as per the Ministry of Health (MOH) directives, adhering to regulatory storage and handling requirements for medications and medical equipment.
 
 
 &bull; Maintain records for medical inventory, track stock levels, monitor expiry dates of medications and medical supplies, and ensure timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
 
 
 &bull; Ensure accurate documentation of all medical records, including employee health assessments, incident reports etc.
 
 
 &bull; Document incidents, treatments, and follow-ups in compliance with occupational health standards.
 
 
 &bull; Prepare reports on workplace health trends and recommend improvements.
 
 
 &bull; Ensure compliance with health care regulations and organizational policies.
 
 
 &bull; Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
 
 
 &bull; Develop and deliver health awareness programs on various occupational health and wellness topics to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
 
 
 &bull; Create educational materials (e.g., posters, newsletters, intranet content) to promote wellness and safety awareness.
 
 
 &bull; Stay updated on medical advancements, occupational health trends, and regulatory changes to provide the best healthcare practices within the workplace. &bull; Promote wellness initiatives, including vaccination programs and mental health support.
 
 
 &bull; Lead and actively participate in corporate health campaigns, ensuring awareness and engagement among employees on key health and wellness topics.
 
 
 &bull; Train employees on first aid and medical emergency response procedures.
 
 
 &bull; Mentor and support junior nursing staff and nursing students.
 
 
 &bull; Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Necessary Knowledge and Experience:
 
 
 
 &bull; Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, preferably in occupational health or industrial settings.
 
 
 &bull; Strong knowledge of occupational health regulations, workplace hazards, and emergency response procedures
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Education and Certification Minimum Requirements:
 
 
 
 
 
 
 &bull; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred; associate&rsquo;s degree in nursing (ADN) acceptable with relevant experience.
 
 
 &bull; Current nursing license (RN) in the state of practice.
 
 
 &bull; Heart-saver First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications is advantageous.
