</p><p>Responsible for supervision of case managers at a designated facility. This position will also maintain a case load of offenders and will help within an offender housing unit by determining and assisting offenders with programming needs, parole plans, assessments, participating in unit operations, and supervision and direction of offenders. Utilizing evidence-based programming and a team approach to case management, this position will focus on successful offender re-entry into society. The Senior Case Manager will also be a liaison to Offender Services and the facility management team.
</p><p><b>Knowledge of:

</li><li>Department of Correction&rsquo;s policies and the institution&rsquo;s operations and procedures;

</li></ul><p><b>Job Function:
</b></p><ul><li>coach, Mentor and Supervise case managers assigned in a specific facility and conduct audits of submitted work;
</li><li>ensure assessments are completed on schedule and by policy by assigned case managers;
</li><li>work closely with Offender Services staff with transfer procedures and release planning as well as offender classification changes;
</li><li>work with Transitional Case Managers on re-entry initiatives and identifying cases that require specific assistance;
</li><li>retrieve and enter information by accessing SD DOC information systems and utilizing internal and external data sources;
</li><li>analyze retrieved data and investigate for linked information;
</li><li>meet with individual offenders to identify and collect meaningful information to develop an initial case management plan;
</li><li>locate wants and warrants for law enforcement agencies and communicate location;
</li><li>recommend custody level and facility placement based on offender classification and program needs;
</li><li>meets with individual offenders to effectively guide them in accordance with SD DOC needs and regulations, Federal Laws, State Statues and other case management goals and objectives ensuring continuity of care from intake to release;
</li><li>deliver case management services utilizing motivational interviewing and cognitive based interventions in alignment with South Dakota DOC Mission and Vision;
</li><li>identify and collect meaningful information in relation to criminogenic needs;
</li><li>determines an individual case plan, proper programmatic needs, and goals in collaboration with the offender;
</li><li>coordinate offender access to work, education, treatment and recreational programs, determine earned time grants, develop initial parole board risk assessments and actions, and design parole plans;
</li><li>monitor, evaluate, and record progress;
</li><li>complete assessments and updates at regular intervals in accordance with SD DOC policy and case management procedures;
</li><li>maintain regular interaction with offenders coordinating medical and mental health and/or substance treatment, education, program referrals, work assignments and periodic re-assessment, as needed;
</li><li>research case files and prepare plans for presentation to the community and parole boards;
</li><li>assist offenders in preparing for transition;
</li><li>maintain a multidisciplinary network of effective communication, providing opportunities for offenders to receive feedback, crisis intervention, and grievance resolution;

</li></ul><p><b>Ideal Candidate Will Have:
</b></p><p>Five (5) years of experience working directly with a *hard to serve high needs client population in a correctional or human services environment providing case management work to include case planning, assessment of risks and needs, coordination of community services and/or identifying needs and referring to appropriate resources and monitoring compliance and overall case supervision as your primary assignment . Additional components may include multidisciplinary staffing/regular meetings, resolving client issues, and aiding offenders in locating housing and acquiring employment.

</b></p><p>Five (5) years of **corrections experience which must include at least three (3) years&rsquo; experience as a Case Manager working with a hard to serve needs client population providing components of offender management exhibited by involvement and familiarity with processes that directly affect offender classification, programming, or daily living which provide progressive opportunities for appropriate placement to include involvement in : Internal Job Board Review Groups, Classification Hearings, Job Placement and Supervision, Individualized Program Instruction/Tutoring, Multi-Disciplinary Staffing, Responding to Offender Grievances and Resolving Offender Issues, Offender Housing Placement and Movement, Intelligence Gathering and Processing, as well as Role Modeling Pro-Social Behaviors while maintaining Positive Professional Communications by providing the offender population with Crisis Intervention. Additional components may include components such as aiding offenders in locating housing, help with acquiring employment, and community resources/ support to include regular meetings with clients, coordination of services and/ or assessing client's needs and referring to appropriate program intervention. Experience may also include aiding offenders with overcoming barriers for stability in reaching re-entry goals.

<p>Serves on a classification team; evaluates the offender&rsquo;s institutional adjustment attitude toward society and release plans, prepares ; makes recommendations relative to ORAS &amp; Case planning assignments/facility transfers/disciplinary actions</p>
<p>Secures and verifies information from incarcerated adult offenders concerning their home life/family relationships/work history/other pertinent personal and social factors; develops/maintains/reviews classification files</p>
<p>Assesses classification status/prepares analysis for program eligibility determinations using Adult Internal Classification System (AICS), Reclassification Analysis (RCA), and Initial Classification Analysis (ICA) instruments</p>
<p>Acts as grievance officer; processes and responds to Informal Resolution Requests (IRRs); holds disciplinary hearings on conduct violations; participates in treatment team meetings</p>
<p>Processes offenders: completing initial file review/protective custody assessment/enters enemy waivers/updates enemy lists</p>
<p>Maintains open-door office policy; handles offender&rsquo;s laundry/property/financial concerns/mail and censorship notices/notifies offenders of critical illness/death of immediate family members</p>
