<p>This role requires strong <b>phlebotomy</b> and <b>IV insertion</b> skills, as you will regularly draw labs, start IVs, and prepare patients for treatment. You will also room patients, obtain vitals, conduct medication and history reviews, perform EKGs, assist with room turnover, and provide direct support to both providers and nursing staff.</p>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT I, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.</li><li>
Observes patients&rsquo; progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff. Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.</li><li>

Under direct supervision of a physician working within a clinic admixture room, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation. With minimal supervision, responsible for record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.</li><li>
Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.</li><li>
Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.</li><li>
Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.</li><li>
Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
</li><li>Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.

</p><p></p><p>The Patient Care Tech performs delegated direct patient care activities to an assigned group of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.</p><p>

The Patient Care Tech responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p><ul><li>
Performs personal patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals</li><li>
Assists with patient safety issues such as presence of identification arm band, adherence to patient fall protocol and use of restraints, positioning of patients, promotion of an environment for rest and sleep, reporting of incidents/injury occurrences</li><li>
Performs treatments which may include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation</li><li>
May retrieve and transport medications</li></ul><p>
The Patient Care Tech reports to assigned leader.</p><p>
Mental Health staff must be able to assist with physical restraint of patients, utilizing the identified Behavior Management Technique System. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information.</p><p>
Potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals. Must follow standard precautions.</p><p>
PACU: Occasionally exposed to patient being X-rayed. Frequently exposed to low levels of exhaled anesthetic gases.</p><p>

Current BLS certification or completion within 90 days.</li><li>
Successful completion of a recognized nursing assistant course required or successful completion of an accredited nursing program, Nursing Fundamentals or Introduction into Nursing course with either skills lab or clinical rotation included or enroll in a CNA training program within 45 days and complete within 90 days of hire. Verification is required of the course and lab or clinical via transcript or official notice from the accredited nursing program; OR 3 months employed in an INTEGRIS patient care area with training and observation for nursing assistant duties, as certified by the clinical nurse manager or the clinical director; OR 12 months of nursing assistant experience within an acute care facility, nursing home, home care setting, or long-term care facility; OR prior hospital corpsman medical training in the military required.</li><li>
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.</li><li>

This job requires the incumbents to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Drivers License from the state of residence, as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.</p><div>
