Join our dynamic Infectious Disease Developed Markets team located in Scarborough, Maine as an Operational Excellence, Manager.
This role is responsible for delivering Operational Excellence work streams across the Maine Campus, with a primary focus on application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to promote a culture of continuous improvements which incorporates reducing waste, process optimization, and facilitating the manufacturing operating system. The ideal candidate will be a skilled facilitator, data-driven problem solver, and change agent who can influence at all levels of the organization.
Program leadership is essential to the role, where the Operational Excellence Leader also demonstrates a high degree of personal accountability and ownership at all levels, embodies the SHINGO principles, and embraces data &amp; facts.
The Operational Excellence Leader must be able to mentor through structured problem solving for a variety of disciplines, both technical and non-technical, while also challenging the status quo to continually drive improvements. It is essential that the Operational Excellence Leader be adept facilitating kaizen and/or rapid improvement events, navigating ambiguity within areas not traditionally in scope of Operational Excellence, as well as understanding what it means to manufacture in a medical device manufacturing environment.
What You&rsquo;ll Work On<ul><li>
Lead the Maine Campus capability in knowledge and understanding of metrics and measurements which impact the total performance of the plant.</li><li>
Mentors, coaches, and trains all level of contribution in the use and practice of continuous improvement methodologies and tools. (Lean, value stream mapping, six-sigma, Kaizen).</li><li>
Drives operational excellence understanding throughout the plant, with both physical and virtual applications.</li><li>
Manages and facilitate continuous improvement projects in support of company objectives, including technical and business focused applications</li><li>
Develops a project charter, implementation plan, conducts risk assessments, and develops contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.</li><li>
Assesses current processes and standard workflow and identifies process improvement opportunities utilizing organizational, analytical, Lean and six sigma problem solving methodologies.</li><li>
Plans and facilitates the in the execution of various value stream mapping and Kaizen events.</li><li>
Acts as a change agent by communicating the enterprise-wide changes to the employees and helping them to learn, understand, adjust and grow within the continuous improvement culture.</li><li>
Participates and acts as a key business partner to the leadership team including business strategy development and operational execution of business plans.</li><li>
Helps to create the future state as it relates to shortened value streams, manufacturing strategies, cross-functional processes, and the establishment of uniform policies and procedures.</li><li>
Demonstrates analytical capability to find systemic issues to root cause, and crest actions plant to mitigate, close and/or eliminate, including the application of statistical techniques.</li><li>
Estimates and verifies financial benefits from continuous improvement projects.</li></ul>

Required Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, Engineering, Science or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in a high-volume, multi-product manufacturing environment.</li><li>
2-4 years of demonstrated success in applying Continuous Improvement / Business Excellence tools.</li><li>
Certification or equivalent working knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies.</li><li>
Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for FDA regulated environment.</li><li>
Experience in operations management and knowledge of cost accounting/financial reporting systems.</li><li>
Good functional computer skills (Microsoft Office programs, Excel, etc.) is required.</li><li>
Willingness to travel (to facilitate personal development and support of other sites).</li><li>
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in a high-volume, multi-product manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry.</li><li>
A minimum 2-5 years&rsquo; experience in manufacturing operations, business improvement, quality systems or other areas related to the project with an understanding of Abbott internal systems and procedures.</li><li>

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $102,000 and $154,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
