<div><div>POSITION SUMMARY: The Scribe assists the doctor by transcribing appropriate data into the patient medical record during the patient exam in order to optimize the doctor&rsquo;s time with patients. This position will also assist the technician by performing various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, and preparing the exam room.</div>

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.</li>
<li>Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.</li>
<li>Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor&rsquo;s recommendations.</li>
<li>Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.</li>
<li>Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.</li>
<li>Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.</li>
<li>Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by leadership.</li>

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

<li>High school graduate or equivalent.</li>
<li>Previous experience in optometry is preferred.</li>

Medical Scribe - Optometry Clinic

THE NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE

The New England College of Optometry invites applications for a limited part-time tutor position.
 
Job responsibilities include assisting final-year optometry students and recent alumni with Part 3 boards exam preparation. This includes review and practice of patient encounter cases and clinical skills assistance at the New England College of Optometry 424 Beacon Street Campus. Patient encounter assistance can take place over Zoom, while clinical skills assistance including slit lamp exam, Goldmann applanation tonometry, 4-mirror gonioscopy, dilated biomicroscopy and binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy would take place in person at the Beacon campus.
 
Hours include: variable and somewhat flexible, but will depend upon the clinic schedule of the student(s) being assisted; this is typically weekday evenings and weekends.
 
Pay rate: $55/hour
 
At the time of the appointment, the successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Optometry degree (O.D.) and have or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts Optometry License with TPA certification. Preference will be given to candidates with related experience, who have completed an accredited optometric residency or have equivalent patient care and/or tutoring, teaching, or mentor experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Warmly greet incoming patients upon entering the practice and complete the check-in process.</li><li>

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be physically able to sit for long periods of time, read a computer screen for long periods of time, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs. Hand dexterity, and eye and hand coordination critical. Employee is subject to inside environmental conditions.
Employee&rsquo;s schedule could include after hour projects, as needed. Travel, as needed between practices.

The Position<ul><li>
Arrive at the clinic before the doctor to setup at the facility.</li><li>
Transport patients to and from the exam area at the facility.</li><li>
Assist the doctor with vision pretesting, working with eyeglasses and scribing as needed.</li></ul>
Location
This position covers their home market which includes driving up to a 3-hour radius. For locations greater than 2.5 hours, the company offers overnight lodging and meals. Mileage reimbursement is included, as well as paid time for all driving that exceeds normal commute time.
This is a full-time benefit eligible role, working 4 days a week (32 hours).
Requirements:
<ul><li>Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.</li><li>
Ability to drive to clinics that are typically within a 3-hour radius. Must have reliable transportation.</li><li>
