<p>
The RN, Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and coordination of quality patient care on a continuing basis while under the guidance and direction of the Nurse Manager. The Clinical Coordinator practices within the guidelines of the Nursing Care standards and hospital policies and procedures, and functions as the Charge Nurse for the designated unit. Additionally, the Clinical Coordinator manages staff training in conjunction with the assigned Nurse Educator, and provides administrative coverage for the Nurse Manager in their absence.</p>

<li>Direct and supervise patient care during assigned shifts</li>
<li>Make rounds on all patients to ensure that current clinical patient care standards are being met</li>
<li>Analyze shift workload to determine the number of employees needed to ensure adequate staffing</li>
<li>Proactively pursue coverage for call-ins and unexpected staffing needs in conjunction with the Nurse Manager</li>
<li>Coordinate patient transfers, admissions, and discharges in a timely manner to ensure effective patient throughput</li>
<li>Make bed allocations and patient assignments according to staff's documented and demonstrated competence</li>
<li>Consult with and keep the Nurse Manager informed of unit activities, needs, and problems</li>
<li>Facilitate the daily operations and workflow on assigned areas</li>
<li>Organize and reprioritize work based on staff needs, patient needs, available resources, and unit requirements</li>
<li>Demonstrate consistent ability/competence in patient care areas</li>
<li>Function independently with most procedures/protocols, except for those which require the assistance of a physician</li>

<li>Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, making recommendations for transfers, promotions, and the Identification of areas requiring staff development</li>

<li>Foster a spirit of teamwork within assigned area(s)</li>
<li>Make immediate administrative decisions as necessary in the absence of the Nurse Manager</li>
<li>Assign preceptors for departmental new hires</li>
<li>Monitor the progress of all new hires within the department</li>
<li>Assess team members clinical competency through observation, testing, return demonstration and evaluation of the occurrences of variances to standards of care</li>
<li>Serve as a mentor and resource to students, new hires, LPNs, floating/flexi nurses, and unlicensed personnel</li>
<li>Provide feedback regarding employee performance and clinical experience to the Nurse Manager and employee</li>
<li>Coordinate necessary staff development and unit-based educational needs utilizing the Clinical Nurse Educator</li>
