Job Details:
PURPOSE
The Operating Room (OR) Orderly is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment in the operating room. This role prepares the operating room for procedures, assists with patient transport, and supports the surgical team with non-medical tasks. The OR Orderly reports to the OR Charge Nurse and works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Room Preparation
<ul><li>Cleans and disinfects the operating room before and after procedures.</li><li>
Sets up surgical equipment and supplies.</li><li>
Ensures all necessary instruments and materials are available for the surgical team.</li></ul>
Patient Transport
<ul><li>Assists in transporting patients to and from the operating room.</li><li>
Ensures patient safety and comfort during transport.</li><li>
Communicates with nursing staff to coordinate patient movement.</li></ul>
Support During Procedures
<ul><li>Assists the surgical team with positioning patients.</li><li>
Provides necessary supplies and equipment during procedures.</li><li>
Maintains a sterile environment by following infection control protocols.</li></ul>
Equipment Management
<ul><li>Sterilizes and organizes surgical instruments and equipment.</li><li>
Performs routine maintenance and checks on equipment.</li><li>
Reports any equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.</li></ul>
Compliance and Safety
<ul><li>Adheres to all safety and regulatory standards.</li><li>
Implements and follows safety protocols for handling hazardous materials.</li><li>
Participates in safety and quality improvement initiatives.</li></ul>
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>

At least 1 year(s) of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an operating room or surgical environment.</li></ul>

<div>Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the Medical Transporter is responsible for the direct transportation of physically limited passengers to and from their destinations. Position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies.

Schedule: Monday - Friday. This position requires availability between the hours of 6:00am-6:00pm. 
Compensation: $21.79 - $22.88 an hour.

Duties and Responsibilities
<ul><li>Effectively communicates with participants, families, staff and other agencies and departments.</li>
<li>Drives a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited persons to varied destinations.</li>
<li>Assures wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and participants are delivered to appointments in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, and determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.</li>
<li>Assists passengers on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner. Will work with medical equipment and manage other emergencies that may arise.</li>
<li>Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Attends staff meetings and takes part in participant care planning. Communicates any changes in participant condition to team members.</li>
<li>Observes each participant for any change in physical, mental, emotional and social functioning and shall report such changes to the licensed nurse.</li>
<li>Inspects van and maintains it in a clean, orderly and safe condition.</li>
<li>The driver must exhibit exceptional customer service to patients, families, case managers, facilities, physicians, and nurses.</li>
<li>Completes driver log each time the vehicle is used. Keep an accurate record of all facility transports, mileage and times. Provides facility administrator with completed logs.</li>
<li>Inspects the company vehicle monthly using the Vehicle Maintenance Log.</li>
<li>Reports all maintenance or vehicle needs to the facility administrator timely and follow up as appropriate.</li>
<li>Assists with maintaining all maintenance records and other records regarding the company vehicle.</li>
<li>Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with geriatric individuals including those with cognitive decline and/or physical frailties</li>
<li>Completes documentation as required. Coordination of 24 hour care delivery.</li>
<li>Other projects and duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
Physical Demands
<ul><li>Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds, should be done with assistance as appropriate.</li>
<li>Must be able to hear staff/clients on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.</li>
<li>Must have vision, with or without lenses, adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.</li>
<li>Must have high manual dexterity.</li>
<li>Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.</li>

Education/Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
