Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Law School is searching for a Reference and Student Outreach Librarian to support the research and instructional needs of BLS faculty, students, and other library users. The Law School&rsquo;s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate be part of a successful educational institution.
The Reference and Outreach Librarian reports to the Associate Librarian for Public Services, is a member of the reference team, and leads the library&rsquo;s outreach efforts. As a member of the reference team, this librarian provides reference assistance to library patrons; participates in weekend reference coverage; assists in developing and promoting instructional and user support materials; participates in the faculty liaison program; assists with other information services activities; and works on team-based projects. In addition, the librarian coordinates and manages library outreach to students. This includes working with student groups and other law school departments to promote library services and resources.
Responsibilities include:
Outreach Librarian<div><ul><li>
Coordinate &amp; Manage Library Outreach: Organize and oversee events and communication efforts aimed at engaging students by coordinating with student organizations and law school departments.</li><li>
Maintain Outreach Calendar: Keep a detailed schedule of all outreach activities to ensure smooth coordination among library staff.</li><li>
Stay Informed on Outreach Trends: Continuously update knowledge on the latest developments in outreach services, share insights with reference librarians, and incorporate these into the library's outreach programs.</li><li>
Evaluate Student Outreach Efforts: Conduct an annual student survey to evaluate library resources, services, and programs in order to gain a better understanding of student needs and evaluate how effectively the library is meeting them.</li><li>
Budget Management: Plan and manage the budget for outreach programs and services.</li></ul></div>
Reference Librarian<div><ul><li>
Reference Services: Provide general reference services both in-person and virtually, including office hours and one-on-one research consultations. Assist patrons with a wide range of inquiries from basic bibliographic questions to complex legal research.</li><li>
Research: Perform extensive, in-depth research across legal, non-legal, and bibliographic domains. Utilize a variety of resources and databases to deliver accurate and comprehensive information.</li><li>
Liaison Program: Participate in the library&rsquo;s liaison program, which involves consultations with faculty, law journals, and administrative departments to determine their needs. Design and implement research projects to meet these needs efficiently.</li><li>
Instruction &amp; Programming: Participate in formal and informal legal research and library instruction programming including guest lectures, research workshops, and the equivalent of 2 credit hours of formal legal research instruction.</li><li>
Instructional Materials: Develop library and research instructional materials, such as course videos, classroom exercises, and research guides.</li><li>
Collection Development: Participate in collection development, including source selection and updating research guides.</li><li>
Committee Participation: Serve on Library and Law School committees as requested.</li><li>

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Reader Services, the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Librarian performs reference, instruction, and outreach duties, with special emphasis on American Indian and Indigenous Studies and the histories of Latin America, the Philippines, and Hawaii, the major strengths of the Ayer and Greenlee collections at the Newberry Library. The Librarian also serves in other functional areas related to these collections, based on the needs of the Library. 
Between 2026-2030, this position will mainly focus on supporting a Mellon Implementation grant, &ldquo;Expanding Indigenous Access and Stewardship at the Newberry Library.&rdquo; The Mellon-funded Implementation grant is a five-year community-driven initiative that centers Indigenous voices, builds lasting relationships, and creates accessible, sustainable pathways to Indigenous histories and knowledge. Building on a 2020&ndash;2023 Mellon-funded planning grant and larger institutional initiatives, the project will fund community-led research, digitization, and training&mdash;ensuring that American Indian and Alaska Native nations have greater access to and control over the presentation of historical materials that contain their histories and knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Provide reference assistance to library patrons in person, on the phone, and via email&mdash;especially but not limited to specialized reference assistance relating to the Ayer and Greenlee collections and American Indian and Indigenous Studies:<ul><li>

Key Responsibilities 
Under the supervision of the Library Manager, the Young Adult Librarian:</div><ul>

Primary Responsibilities

 The University of Iowa Libraries seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented archivist to serve as Curator of the Louise Noun &ndash; Mary Louise Smith Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives. Under the general direction of the Director of Special Collections &amp; Archives, the Curator administers the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives [IWA] and develops, manages, promotes, and makes accessible collections focused on Iowa women&rsquo;s and gender history.
 
 
 The Curator of the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives serves as a leader for this unit within the broader Special Collections &amp; Archives department and collaborates closely with the Director of Special Collections &amp; Archives and the Associate Curator of the IWA to develop and set the direction for the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives. The Curator supervises the Women in Politics Archivist and graduate assistants and works with other IWA staff to strengthen and develop the IWA. They also collaborate and consult with other department staff such as the Lead Outreach and Instruction Librarian, the Lead Public Services Librarian, and those working in collection development roles to enhance cohesive engagement with the community and coordinated development of the department as a whole.

 Established in 1992, the Archives is named for its founders, two Des Moines women who conceived the idea of a repository that would preserve the history of Iowa women. Inspired by the vision of its founders, the Louise Noun &ndash; Mary Louise Smith Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives nourishes creative research, learning, and teaching and has a robust outreach program to gather and preserve the history of Iowa women, their families, and their communities from all walks of life and of groups underrepresented in archives. Through its programs and online resources, the Archives serves a broad audience ranging from students and scholars to the general public. The IWA holds approximately 1200 collections.

 Select, Acquire, Organize, Preserve, and Provide Information Resources and Services

 Represent the IWA in collection development work; oversee appraisal decisions, organization, and description of relevant collections.

 Explore new areas for collection development and opportunities to expand on existing collection strengths, especially in ways that welcome a wider cross-section of the campus community, while working in close coordination with other staff both inside and outside of the department.

<div><div>The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative librarian to fill a full time Librarian position in the Adult &amp; Teen Services Department at our Romeoville 
Branch Library. This position equals 40 hours per week.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide library services of interest to adults and teens including but not limited to reference and readers advisory services, programs, outreach, collection development, and delivery of diverse information services during varied, and at times non-traditional work hours.
