 The employee will be responsible for a variety of job functions related to offenders, coaching to help those under supervision address their needs and learn new skills that lead to a more prosocial lifestyle and ultimately protection of the public. These responsibilities include, but not limited to, the preparation of background reports on offenders convicted in Circuit Court which will be utilized to determine sentences; supervision of offenders placed on community supervision through Court ordered probation or parole from a state correctional facility. JOB SUMMARY</b></p>
<p>
Performs advanced parole administration and supervision work. Work involves reviewing and<br>
approving parole supervision activities, parole investigations, and parole release plans and reports;<br>
coordinating case assignments; conducting case analyses; and supervising the work of others.<br>

<p><b> ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b></p>

A. Plans, schedules, and supervises parole administration activities, ensuring compliance with<br>
agency policies, procedures, standards, and objectives; and directs staff in developing new<br>
sources of information and in improving casework and administrative hearing techniques.</p>
<p>
B. Develops and implements policies and procedures; and develops, reviews, and revises<br>
operational manuals, administrative directives, and training materials to include curriculum,<br>
lesson plans, presentation slides, and exams.</p>
<p>
C. Evaluates and analyzes operational reviews and training needs; assists in developing an annual<br>
operational review plan to identify the departments, sections, and areas to be reviewed each<br>
fiscal year; and assists in developing and updating training schedules to identify training<br>
priorities.</p>
<p>
D. Designs and conducts operational reviews to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Board<br>
business to include site inspections, examination of records, programs, and documents and<br>
investigation of operational procedures; and designs and conducts in-person and remote<br>
trainings to include designing and developing methods for the assessment and evaluation of<br>
training effectiveness.</p>

E. Prepares reports summarizing the findings of each operational review; and prepares reports<br>

<p><b>OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB</b></p>
<p>An employee in this class investigates, advises, and counsels individuals on probation or parole to foster their personal, social, and economic adjustment in the community. Work involves the counseling and supervision of individuals on probation or parole, completion of pre-sentence investigation reports, and investigation of pre-parole plans. Work includes a wide variety of contacts with agencies, employers, friends, and families in securing information regarding probationers and parolees, and assisting in developing useful and effective rehabilitation plans. There is an element of physical danger in working with probation and parole violators. Although the work is regulated by law and well-defined procedures, the employee is required in emergencies to make decisions directly affecting the public safety and the personal liberties of individuals. Work is reviewed in progress through observing the employee in action, through conferences, and upon completion, through the review of reports and recommendations.</p>
