<li>Collect specimens and obtain blood glucose according to established policy and procedure and provider orders. Arrange for transport of specimens to laboratory as appropriate.</li>
<li>Performs EKGs, removal of Foley catheters, and bladder scans under the guidance of a registered nurse.</li>
<li>Place patient on monitor telemetry leads.</li>
<li>Apply external devices (such as SCD's, Pulse Oximetry, TPump, etc.) per provider order.</li>
<li>Maintain safety initiatives including but not limited to hourly rounding, answering lights, monitoring patients who are at high risk for falls, and provide 1:1 bedside companionship for patients as indicated.</li>
 <li>Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.</li>
<li>Conveys an attitude of understanding, trust, and compassion for individuals.</li>
<li>Commits to providing exceptional customer service to our patients and visitors.</li>
<li>Commits to treating coworkers with respect and dignity and will follow our non-negotiable standards to promote a consistent positive experience for patients, colleagues, and visitors.</li>

 JOB SUMMARY
 The Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cellular Therapy and Blood Cancers Inpatient clinic. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant serves as a key clinical provider within a highly specialized, multidisciplinary team, working in close collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and support staff. This role involves the comprehensive management of patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and myelodysplastic syndromes, many of whom are undergoing intensive chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapies.
 Responsibilities include performing detailed patient assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, managing treatment related toxicities, performing bedside procedures (LPs and bone marrow biopsies), and coordinating care throughout the inpatient stay. The APP plays a critical role in clinical decision making, patient education, and ensuring continuity of care in a high acuity environment.
 Scheduled Hours : variable 12° shifts including weekends and holidays.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
 Required
 Education Master's degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR Graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT&rsquo;s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.
What you will do in this role:<ul><li>
Participates in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.</li><li>
Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.</li><li>
Assists with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assists with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assists with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.</li><li>
Obtains or assists in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Ensures accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.</li><li>
Assists patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed.</li><li>
Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.</li><li>
Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.</li></ul><h6 class="jobSectionHeader">
What qualifications you will need:</h6><ul><li>CNA certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Board of Health Professions preferred; or completed Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing.</li><li>Previous acute patient care experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.</li></ul><ul><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
