Scheduled appoints according to clinician template and follows office scheduling policies.</li><li>
Assists front office lead/supervisor with other administrative duties such as front end duties, denials, work queues and correct any errors to ensure clean claims.</li><li>
Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.</li><li>
Follows the CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).</li><li>
Maintains strict confidentiality.</li><li>
Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission.</li><li>

What does the Patient Benefits Representative do? (including, but not limited to):</b></p><p>
The Patient Benefits Representative, under general supervision is responsible for educating patient on insurance coverage and benefits. Assess patients financial ability; may educate patient on assistance programs. Updates and maintains existing patient new insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits in system. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology&rsquo;s Shared Values.</p>
Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):</b></p><ul><li>
Prior to a patient receiving treatment; obtains insurance coverage information and demographics; educates patient on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
</li><li>Assess patients ability to meet expenses and discusses payment arrangements. May educate patients on financial assistance programs as well as identify sources and provide assistance with completing forms. Based upon diagnosis, estimated insurance coverage, and financial assistance, completes Patient Cost Estimate form.
</li><li>Completes appropriate reimbursement and liability forms for patient&rsquo;s review and signature. Forwards appropriate information and forms to billing office.</li><li>
Responsible for obtaining, from Clinical Reviewer, insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment.</li><li>
Review patient account balance and notify front desk of patients to meet with</li><li>
Ensure that patient co-pay amount is correctly entered into system (or conveyed), allowing front desk to collect appropriately</li><li>
At each patient visit, verifies and updates demographics and insurance coverage in computer system according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
</li><li>Stays current on available financial aide. Develops professional relationships with financial aide providers. Networks with financial aide providers to obtain leads to other aide programs.</li><li>
Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines with regards to patient*s records.

Qualifications:

As a <b>Patient Service Representative (PSR)</b>, you are the first and last impression for our patients&mdash;and a vital part of our clinic's success. This is a <b>high-volume, medical front desk role</b> supporting check-in, check-out, insurance verification, EMR scheduling, and financial collections.</p>

We're looking for someone with a warm, professional presence who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and understands the nuances of <b>medical office workflows</b>. Prior experience in healthcare or medical scheduling is <b>strongly preferred</b>.</p>

What You'll Do</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Greet and check in patients warmly at the front desk and by phone</li>
<li>Accurately verify insurance eligibility and collect copays, coinsurance, or balances</li>
<li>Schedule and confirm appointments using EMR and patient management tools</li>
<li>Answer phones and assist with inquiries regarding treatments, billing, or referrals</li>
<li>Collect and scan patient documentation and ensure EMR records are current</li>
<li>De-escalate patient concerns or scheduling issues with calm professionalism</li>
<li>Collaborate with clinical staff and office managers to ensure patients are placed correctly and seen on time</li>
<li>Maintain a clean, welcoming front desk area</li>
<li>Support operational tasks as needed (e.g., faxing, supply ordering, data entry)</li>

<ul><li><b>High school diploma or equivalent required</b></li>
<li><b>Medical front desk or healthcare administrative experience strongly preferred</b></li>
<li><b>Proficiency in insurance verification, EMR scheduling, and payment collection preferred</b></li>
<li>2+ years of customer service experience</li>
<li>Comfort handling sensitive information with discretion and accuracy</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor</li>
<li><b>Bilingual in Spanish</b> is a plus</li>
