The County of Riverside&rsquo;s Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks to fill a Temporary Patient Services Coordinator position to support the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC). This recruitment is for a temporary position located in Moreno Valley. 
Ideal candidates are fast learners, capable of multitasking, possess strong computer proficiency, and exhibit critical thinking and independent work ethic.
Spanish speaking preferred, but not required. 
 
Working hours: 5/40 (Mon.-Fri 8am-4:30pm) 
 
This position performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Orthopedics program; and performs other related duties as required. 
 
Depending on area of assignment, the Patient Services Coordinator reports to either the Nurse Coordinator, Director of Nursing Services, or an appropriate Revenue Cycle Manager. The Patient Services Coordinator class is primarily responsible for coordinating patient care at the RUHS ambulatory clinics or for coordinating referrals generated with contracted Managed Care Plans, both public and private. In addition, this class coordinates with physicians and mid-level providers regarding patient care or IPA's for all patients scheduled for appointments at RUHS, and obtains all authorizations necessary for patient care.

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES</h2></div>
<div><ul><li>Assist physicians and other healthcare providers by providing care coordination to ensure patients receive optimal care; interact with Primary Care Providers, Specialty Providers, and other healthcare staff to coordinate care for patients.</li><li>Liaison between healthcare staff and patients regarding maintenance of care and treatment; work closely with Providers to ensure continuity of care and treatment; facilitate communication among patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding their care, including making appointments, treatment authorizations and resource needs.</li><li>May assist with patient referrals to appropriate community resources; may provide patient education.</li><li>Daily management of referrals which includes, input of data into manage care system, verify member eligibility, provider participation, and tracking of pending referrals.</li><li>Authorize Treatment Authorization Requests (TAR) for the County of Riverside Medically Indigent Services Program (MISP); coordinate Durable Medical Equipment (DME) for all Managed Care Health Plans, public and private, coordinating quotes and equipment availability.</li><li>Assist with transfer of patients to and from RUHS Medical Center and Care Clinics and other outlying hospitals for specialized care; verify patient eligibility with associated health plans.</li><li>Coordinate with contracted IPA's and return copies of all appropriate clinic, surgery, and emergency room progress notes; process and authorize all requests for pharmacy that are not covered in the Drug Formulary.</li><li>Request and review all emergency room notes for managed care patients that are seen through the Emergency Department; ensure return of all notes (i.e., outpatient, surgical, and emergency) to appropriate PCP or IPA.</li><li>Coordinate patient transfers to other facilities for higher-level of care; coordinate with Medical Social Workers to facilitate care for patients; assist patients in qualifying for Medi-Cal or other programs.</li><li>Process Third Party claims by determining and supplying information to and from attorney respective of patient's eligibility at the time of an accident.</li></ul></div>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</h2></div>
<div>Recruiting Guidelines 
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test. 
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible, broad and varied clerical experience, at least one year of which included working in a managed care, healthcare, or behavioral health setting. For the RUHS care management program, experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or experience equivalent to the County of Riverside Behavioral Health Specialist I class is preferred. 
Knowledge of: Rules and regulations pertaining to the confidentiality of medical information from federal, state and county agencies; medical terminology and basic laws of healthcare facilities and hospitals; federal, state and county regulations related to healthcare compliance. 
Ability to: Interpret medical information, diagnosis and apply medical guidelines; communicate effectively orally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals; work independently, as well as in a team environment; operate a variety of telephone technology systems; understand the capabilities and applications of information processing equipment, considering the requirements of the program; utilize motivational interviewing skills; work efficiently in a fast paced environment; provide excellent customer service. 

Other Requirements 
Skills: Computer literate; ability to type 40 wpm.
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver&rsquo;s License will be required.

Temporary Patient Services Coordinator

<ul><li>Schedule patient assessment visits, including Oasis visits, in a timely manner.</li><li>Prepare weekly clinical schedules and review daily to identify capacity opportunities and ensure productivity standards.</li><li>Assign clinicians to geographic areas efficiently, matching skills to care needs and optimizing capacity.</li><li>Reschedule missed visits within the current week or escalate to Clinical Manager.</li><li>Collaborate with field clinicians to ensure all ordered patient visits are scheduled and completed.</li><li>Manage scheduling-related calls from patients and staff; refer clinical or performance issues to Clinical Manager.</li><li>Monitor hospitalized patients and ensure appropriate team follow-up.</li><li>Complete schedules including required orders and services (e.g., lab draws, supervisory visits, add-on visits).</li><li>Support Clinical Manager in timely communication with patients, clinicians, referral sources, BD team, and office staff.</li><li>Run applicable reports and take appropriate workflow actions.</li><li>Assist with patient transfers between care centers and/or Hospice services.</li><li>Maintain supply closet, ensuring supplies are current and properly packaged; coordinate field supply needs.</li><li>Perform referral and intake duties in absence of Intake Coordinator.</li><li>Obtain and document verbal orders for patients in accordance with licensure requirements.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required</li><li>
Minimum 1 year administrative experience in a healthcare setting</li><li>
Scheduling experience in healthcare is preferred</li><li>
Current unencumbered license to practice as a Licensed Piratical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or Registered Nurse (RN)</li></ul>

The Children's Home is seeking a Full-Time Hospital Services Coordinator. The Hospital Services Coordinator is a member of the Care Coordination Team and will assist in the coordination and organization of all day-to-day functions in the hospital, daily maintenance of all medical records, and responsible for efficient and accurate scheduling of in-patient and outpatient services through the various programs of The Children&rsquo;s Home. This position will also work closely with the Manager of Care Coordinator/RN Admissions Case Manager in the planning and admitting of new patients to the Pediatric Specialty Hospital.

Essential Functions:
1. Coordinates the maintenance of the medical record for all patients within The Children&rsquo;s Home.
2. Ensures that all new patient information is obtained and processed with appropriate admitting paperwork for admission of patient, including assigning the patient&rsquo;s medical record number and processing initial insurance verification.
3. Ensures that all test results/reports are in the patient&rsquo;s chart once reviewed.
 a. Gathering test results from the CRNP office, scanning into EMR, and obtaining results that have not been received.
 b. Assists with reconciling lab bills.
4. Compiles infection control data for submission to Quality and Compliance Manager.
5. Under the direction of Manager of Care Coordination/RN Admissions Case Manager and Clinical Leaders, sets up ambulance transports for scheduled and unscheduled admissions, discharges, and tranfers providing EMS with authorization as available.
6. Ensure that all patient charts are assembled in an appropriate manner.
7. Coordinates the review process of all medical records at time of discharge, ensuring that all necessary information is completed and in compliance with PA State regulations.
8. Interacts with the RN Case Manager/Utilization Review to ensure that all appointments at outpatient facilities are scheduled and required documentation obtained.
9. Prepares Med Exec packet and transcribes meeting minutes each month.
10. Coordinates administrative and clerical functions as needed under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, Manager of Nursing Services and the Manager of Care Coordinator/RN Admissions Case Manager.
11. Schedules for appointments for various services, including therapies, assessments, etc.
12. Ensures all program-specific patient demographics and insurance information are obtained prior to appointment and accurately entered into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner.
13. Maintain patient records ensuring all required information is obtained and entered and/or scanned into the patient&rsquo;s chart.
14. Follow-up on any outstanding insurance issues for inpatient care and other services to ensure accurate invoicing and communicate closely with RN Case Manager/Utilization Review and Accounts Receivable Associate.
15. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and retrieving patient records, obtaining information required for authorizations, retrieving information needed for reviews and appeals, and other department projects.
16. Provides support for front desk reception duties.
Requirements:

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Completion of medical secretary/admissions/registration program, or other related program, or 2-4 years of experience in a medical field.
3. General knowledge of computer software and electronic medical records.
4. General knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
5. Works independently and efficiently, possessing a high attention to detail and maintaining the volume of scheduling clients.
6. Strong organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
7. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, staff and other personnel.
8. Knowledge of third-party health care coverage, insurance regulations and authorizations preferred.
9. Ability to consistently maintain confidentiality with regards to all client information.
Functional Requirements:
1. Partially active and partially sedentary position must be able to access the patients and families, and also must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
2. Must be able to push, pull, and occasionally lift, or carry up to 10-50lbs as required to access file boxes, supplies, etc.
3. Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with other staff and guests in-person, via email or phone, or virtual conference.
