PATIENT TRANSPORTER

The role of Patient Transporter is to maintain safety and provide exceptional care to patients requiring assistance in moving from one location in the hospital to another including to and from the hospital, or upon discharge. This will be done in an efficient and service oriented manner that aligns with the established policies and procedures of VPNE and our partner hospital. This role also maintains the transport equipment, ensuring cleanliness and working order for transport items like wheelchairs and stretchers.

Responsibilities
<br><ul>
<li>Make service, care, and satisfaction the priority in every interaction by providing exceptional patient experiences.</li>
<li>Practice and ensure safety as a top priority at all times for all patients, hospital teams and peer coworkers.</li>
<li>Maintains the cleanliness and working order of transport equipment</li>
<li>Delivers specimens to the laboratories as necessary</li>
<li>Engage with the patient to ensure that departure from the room is smooth and comfortable.</li>
<li>Communicate consistently and appropriately with patient and valet staff to ensure the patient has a smooth transition to the vehicle.</li>
<li>Report all incidents in accordance with institutional and company policies</li>
<li>Adhere to the policies, procedures and appropriate workflows (based technology used and personal communication), as agreed upon between the institution and the company</li>

<div><p><b>Job Summary:</b></p>
<p>The Patient Transporter performs under the direct supervision of the Central Transport Supervisor. The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting all patients following hospital and departmental policies while maintaining awareness for opportunities to promote the WE CARE Philosophy. The Patient Transporter is ultimately accountable to the Operations Manager of Central Transportation. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.</p>
<p><b>Performance Expectation:</b></p>
<ul><li>Demonstrate the ability to safely transport patients of all ages/developmental levels to and from our facility departments.</li>
<li>Demonstrate an ability to follow safety precautions during patient transport to ensure the well-being of oneself, patients, and other staff members (i.e., avoids improper lifting, properly disposes of sharps, maintains infection control procedures, consistently cleans work area on own initiative to facilitate efficient work, and avoids damaging equipment).</li>
<li>Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively in all interactions with patients, families, visitors and employees while achieving exceptional, sustained quality patient care, satisfaction, and loyalty.</li>
<li>Demonstrate an ability to respond to requests from patient care team members and completes all patient transports within 20 minutes to minimize patient discomfort.</li>
<li>Demonstrate an ability to respond to patients when their condition worsens by appropriately and quickly alerting the RN and patient care team members.</li>

<p><b>Education/Skills:</b></p>
<p>High school diploma or equivalent required, one year of academic undergraduate work preferred. A training program will be required to include transport procedures, use and operation of a utility cart, wheelchair, stretcher, bed, oxygen tank.</p>
<p><b>Work Experience:</b></p>
<p>None required but preferably one year's experience in dealing with customer service.</p>
