13. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.<br>
14. Answers telephone using appropriate telephone etiquette. Takes and relays messages. Utilizes intra-department communication systems, such as pagers and intercom.<br>
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.<br>
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.</div><div></div><div>
The PCT III must fit into one of these specialties:</div><div>
Unit Secretary<br>
Functions as unit secretary assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures at least 5 shifts (40 hours) every 6 months. Has administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, maintaining logs, organizing patient care charts for admission/discharge/transfer and maintenance of medical records. Enters data or retrieves medical information from the electronic medical record systems.</div><div>
Remote Video Monitoring<br>
Continuously observes multiple patients utilizing the remote video monitoring system.<br>
Emergency Department, Step Down Unit, ICU, Dialysis, and Hospital at Home.</div><div>
Telemetry Certified &amp; Step-Down Unit - Harrington<br>
PCT IIIs are cross trained in phlebotomy and telemetry competencies, as well as the unit clerk position. PCT IIIs will also be assigned to areas of higher acuity, such as the Step-Down Unit.</div><div></div><div>

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:</b></div><div></div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT I, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.</li><li>
Observes patients&rsquo; progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.</li><li>
Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.</li><li>
Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.</li><li>
Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Job Requirements:</div><ul><li>
High school diploma or GED.</li><li>
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.</li></ul><div>
Preferred Job Requirements:</div><ul><li>
Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.</li><li>
Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.</li><li>
Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.</li></ul></div>
