<p><b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><ul><li><b>FULL TIME</b></li><li>Transports offenders via passenger vehicles and buses to various destinations such as courts, jails, prisons, medical centers, and other specified locations.</li><li>Escorts offenders into surroundings requiring contact with judges, prosecuting attorneys, and other court personnel; hospital personnel such as physicians, nurses, and other medical staff; and the public.</li><li>Contacts federal, state, and local police agencies and sheriffs&rsquo; offices within, and outside, of the state and maintains professional courtesy.</li><li>Plans and executes all aspects of the trip/run including: inspection/exchanging information, search of the vehicle and security items, determination of amount and types of restraints, selection of necessary weapons, planning special security precautions, emergency and escape procedures, timing and routing of the trip, accommodation of the needs of the offenders, possession of all clearances and necessary travel documents, inspection and storage of offender&rsquo;s personal property, and the assurance of a safe and controlled travel environment.</li><li>Peace Officer assumes responsibility for significant departmental material resources such as passenger vehicles, weaponry, and communications equipment.</li><li>Observes offenders&rsquo; activities to detect unusual or prohibited behavior that might be a threat to the security and safety of fellow employees, other offenders, and the public.</li><li>Observes and immediately responds to all incidents such as assaults on employees or offenders, offender disturbances, or other situations threatening the security of the mission.</li><li>Controls restrains and subdue disruptive offender(s) to prevent disturbances and possible escapes.</li><li>Make prompt decisions quickly in both routine and non-routine situations including those situations that would be considered &ldquo;life and death&rdquo;.</li><li>Follows organizational security policies and procedures. <p>Job Summary/objective:</p><p>The City Marshal (Must be an active Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Certification and it must be in-good standing) is a sworn peace officer, who is responsible for the enforcement of municipal codes and ordinances, court orders, and the service of legal processes in the City of Tucker, Georgia. Exercises independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents, institutional rules and regulations and departmental policies and procedures.

Preserves the peace by the use of all lawful means, interceding to prevent or suppress crime when authorized by law; interviews suspects, witnesses, and complainants; collects and processes evidence; writes investigative supplements; compiles, publishes, and maintains crime statistics.</li><li>
Provides service, information and directions to students, employees, and visitors; prepares crime analysis reports, and risk assessments; organizes, schedules, and presents crime prevention programs; and analyzes security designs for new construction (security systems).</li><li>
Executes all lawful processes; arrest offenders without warrant where authorized by law; investigates criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals; recover stolen or lost property; attempts to locate missing persons.</li><li>
Enforces traffic law by detecting violations, making violator contacts, placing violators in custody or issuing citations or warnings; investigates motor vehicle collisions; enforces Board of Regents' Rules and Regulations; prepares reports on all activities, filing them with the supervising officer.</li><li>
