We are seeking candidates for a hospitalist position in our Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU). Successful applicants will be energetic BE/BC pediatricians interested in high acuity pediatric cardiac intensive care. Applicants should have a strong interest in clinical service and multidisciplinary collaboration. PCICU Hospitalists work exclusively in the PCICU, rounding with the interdisciplinary PCICU team and performing a wide array of PCICU-based procedures on a shift-based schedule. 
Responsibilities<ul>
<li>PCICU hospitalists serve as frontline providers for all patients including:
<ul><li>Post-operative congenital heart disease patients ranging from infants to young adults</li>
<li>Medical cardiac patients</li>
<li>Patients supported with ECMO ranging from infants to young adults</li>
<li>Patients supported with VADs ranging from infants to young adults</li>
</ul></li><li>There is opportunity and education to achieve procedural competency for intubation, arterial lines, and PICC line placement, as well as other common pediatric procedures</li>
<li>There is opportunity to collaborate on quality improvement and clinical research projects</li>
<li>Our average daily census is 5-6 patients</li>
<li>The PCICU team includes 10 Intensivists, 6 PCCM fellows, 6 PCICU APPs who specialize in pediatric cardiac ICU care, pediatric residents, medical students, and more than 25 full-time nurses, as well as dedicated PCICU respiratory therapists, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, music therapists and child life specialists.</li>

This is an excellent opportunity both for career hospitalists and for recent residency graduates considering future training in pediatric cardiology and/or pediatric critical care medicine. 
Qualifications<ul>
<li>Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited program.</li>
<li>Successful completion of a 3-year Pediatric ACGME approved residency program.</li>
<li>New York State Medical License (or eligible).</li>
<li>Board Eligible in Pediatrics.</li>
<li>Meet eligibility requirements for an appointment to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.</li>
</ul>
Compensation range from $160K to $200K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

The Specialist &ndash; Cardiac Surgery within the Division, is a Board Eligible/Certified physician with clinical training in cardiac surgery. Under supervision of the Attending Physicians, the S pecialist provides family-centered medical care services to our pediatric and congenital cardiac patients [This includes seeing patients in clinic oand on the ward, participating in the programming of interventions, providing direct care to pre and post operative patients as well as participating in the operating room directly to the surgeries. Specialist - Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Performs general equipment cleaning and stocking. Prepares machines and other equipment for sonographer use. Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms as well as cardiac monitor placement. Cleans and processes transesophageal probes.
 
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
 
2. *Participates in identifying and reporting patient safety issues.
 
3. *Assists cardiovascular sonographers and coordinators as requested.
 
4. *Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes all cardiac and vascular equipment (ultrasound machines, ultrasound probes including transesophageal probes, ECG equipment, etc.), following current infection control guidelines.
 
5. *Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms, signal-averaged electrocardiograms, flight physical electrocardiograms, and holter and event monitor applications in accordance with established departmental policies.
 
6. *Takes calls from account hospitals for "Stat" overreads; contacts Cardiologist 24/7 for urgent interpretation.
 
7. *Receives event monitor transmissions of ECG strips and contacts Cardiologist for "Stat" overreads.
 
8. *Recognizes and reports "Discrepancy ECG".
 
9. *Prepares unconfirmed ECG's for cardiologist overread.
 
10. *Transcribes cardiologist overreads, creating a confirmed ECG; distributes copies of confirmed ECG.
 
11. *Performs routine equipment maintenance.
 
12. *Transports patient and/or equipment, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart or wheel chair to designated area.
 
13. Informs supervisor of any institution or equipment concerns.
 
14. Maintains a safe working environment.
 
15. May deliver medications received on unit to the appropriate patient, RN, physician, medication drawer or medication storage place.
 
16. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
 
17. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
High school diploma or equivalency required. Current progress towards a cardiovascular sonography degree required. Courses related to cardiovascular field at post-secondary level required including ECG course. Basic Life Support (CPR) with AED certification within three (3) months of hire required. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
