This position coordinates activities of complex clinical research studies in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Primary responsibilities include patient enrollment, screening, monitoring of research participants, and reporting to the clinical research sponsor. Responsible for ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of study volunteers. Position requires prior clinical research experience and able to work independently with minimal oversight.. Job Duties</h2></div><div><ul><li>
Assists the investigator with the enrollment (recruiting, screening, and interviewing) and study consent process of patients into the Pediatric Critical Care Clinical Trial Studies.</li><li>
Explain the study&rsquo;s processes and procedures to educate the study participants.</li><li>
Responsible for assisting the Principle Investigator with collecting and recording study data related to catherization procedures, cardiac measurements, and related test and measurement for the study.</li><li>
Assist the Principle Investigator as necessary with electronic case reporting requirements in accordance with all FDA and clinical trial study requirements.</li><li>
Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.</li><li>
May perform research related procedures as required such as venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECG&rsquo;s and obtain vital signs on study participants.</li><li>
Corresponds with patient throughout study.</li><li>
Interacts with sponsors and/or coordinating sites as required to facilitate protocol activities and maintains current study documents.</li><li>
Collects, processes and stores or ships blood or biological specimens as outlined per study protocols and associated lab or procedural manuals, in accordance with IATA Guidelines.</li><li>
Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for the research study.</li><li>
Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific study visits for the research protocol.</li><li>
Retrieves and submits test results to the appropriate party.</li><li>
May assist with the supply orders and equipment necessary for the study.</li><li>
Assists in reviewing protocol documents, including abstracts, text, and informed consent for relevant information.</li><li>
Prepares documentation necessary to obtain initial and continued approval for the specific research protocol.</li><li>
Collaborates with physician, mid-level practitioners, and research nurses and data managers to document patient care.</li><li>
Conducts subject research study education as required within the scope of practice.</li><li>
Submits serious adverse event reporting and follow up as needed.</li><li>
Evaluates and analyzes clinical research data as appropriate.</li><li>

JOB SUMMARY
 Works under the direction of an Investigator(s) with limited supervision, to coordinate research projects. This position primarily performs patient/participant coordination, however, may conduct data management in smaller departments on as needed basis. Collects and ensures quality control of clinical or basic research data in support of multiple and/or complex research studies.
 
The Clinical Research Coordinator II will serve as the foundational team member in the growing, translational Center for Inborn Errors of Immunity. Reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, the CRC II will take on a diverse set of responsibilities in true translational research that spans bench and clinical research. Key responsibilities include IRB protocol development and maintenance, patient recruitment and enrollment, clinical visit coordination, sample collection and delivery to sample processing site. Experience in regulatory submissions, IRB protocols, and study start-up. Phlebotomy, sample handling, and biobanking. REDCap proficiency required; experience with Epic and Microsoft Office strongly preferred. Familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools such as R, Stata, SAS, GraphPad Prism, or SPSS is a plus. Ability to work independently and across teams. ACRP or SOCRA certification required (or obtained within the first 6 months of hire).

 Directly interacts with clinical research participants, as required, for the research study (non-clinical and clinical procedures). Interacts via telephone, telehealth or in-person.
 Coordinates regulatory documentation for research studies that includes maintaining information to comply with industry standards, University policies, FDA requirements or other hospital policies.
 Coordinates and schedules procedures as per research study. A non-licensed coordinator may pend study order sets with oversight by PI.
 Screens, recruits, enrolls and follows subjects according to research protocol guidelines (non-clinical and clinical procedures). May also assist with the consent processes.
 Maintains and coordinates data collection information required for each study that may also include developing CRF's (case report form) or data collection tools.
 Assists in developing and implementing research studies, may include writing clinical research protocols.
 Conducts research procedures according to the protocol with proper training and check offs to maintain scope of service.
 May assist the PI on the fiscal management of the trial including budget preparation.
 Monitors patient safety by reviewing records and ensuring appropriate reporting per protocol and HRPP standards.
 May perform research billing activities, as needed, based on size of department (including linking patient calendars).
 Coordinates data management and collection for national (larger/more complex) research studies or multiple research studies at a given time.
 Serves as primary liaison/lead in preparing annual reports for federal, state, and or/or local agencies on assigned studies.
 Prepares protocols for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission. May also submit amendments and continuing review documents.
 Provides in-service training to all study team members and communicates to involved groups.
 Reviews research study protocols to ensure feasibility requirements of the study.
 Assists in developing website or other social media for marketing/recruiting based on assigned clinical research study.
 Enters data or assists in assembling data to enter in the assigned clinical trial management system, electronic medical record and/or other required data entry systems.
 Maintains required subject documentation for each study protocol.

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization&rsquo;s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
What you will do in this role:<ul><li>
Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.</li><li>
Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.</li><li>
Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.</li><li>
Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.</li><li>
Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
</li><li>Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.</li><li>
Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.</li><li>
Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.</li></ul><h6 class="jobSectionHeader"> 
What qualifications you will need:</h6> 
Experience<ul><li> 
1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)</li></ul>

St. David&rsquo;s North Austin Medical Center, part of St. David&rsquo;s HealthCare, is a full-service medical center providing comprehensive medical care at two locations &ndash; St. David&rsquo;s North Austin Medical Center and St. David&rsquo;s Surgical Hospital. 
St. David&rsquo;s North Austin Medical Center is a 460+ bed, multi-specialty, acute care hospital. This means it provides the highest level of care for pregnant and postpartum patients, especially those with serious or complex medical, surgical, or pregnancy-related conditions, including those at high risk for maternal morbidity or mortality. The center includes a 95+ bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 30+ private rooms, 10+ rooms for very small babies, and 10+ beds for babies needing neurological care. It also has 35+ labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, including Central Texas&rsquo; first low-intervention birthing suites with tubs. There are 95+ postpartum beds, 20+ antepartum beds, and Cesarean section surgical suites. The facility offers 24/7 neonatology coverage, OB/GYN hospitalists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, lactation consultants, and a midwifery program. It is part of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network and TexasAIM, and it also provides a high-risk pregnancy navigation and support program.
St. David's Surgical Hospital is part of St. David&rsquo;s North Austin Medical Center and is the first Level 4 Epilepsy Center in Central Texas for both adults and children. It has its own 24-hour emergency department, a medical-surgical inpatient unit, and a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for patients ages 17 and under. The hospital is staffed with pediatric emergency physicians, pediatric hospitalists, intensivists, and other specialists who are specially trained to care for children. It also includes certified child-life specialists who help kids feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. St. David&rsquo;s Children&rsquo;s Hospital offers many pediatric services, such as pediatric surgery, pediatric radiology (including imaging and interventional procedures), and pediatric anesthesia for surgical support.
